Hi, everyone. I have clear idea of the services I want to offer in the senior health business, between senior private duty or home safety assesment service to prevent falls at home. i want to make sure these services are attractive to meet clients needs in my target area. i would like advice and ideas to help research customers concerns and meet their needs. door to door surveys? support groups?...

Am sure it will be quite profitable as well. I ran a small home care agency where I helped f families find caregivers for their loved ones. At first I did the payroll but I did not want to be responsible for the taxes and insurance so I changed it to be a placement agency only where I got paid a referral fee. I did this for over 10 years and then started nursing school. The biz helped me raise my kids as a work at home mom and still earn an income. I just graduated from nursing school last week. I will get my experience as a nurse, but I am an entrepreneur at heart and I will start my biz again. Good luck with your staffing agency . How do you anticipate getting clients??

I'm debating if I should start nursing school to get my RN ; currently a CNA and invest money, loans, debt etc or follow my entrepreneur intuition and get a business license to start a senior care service. Were you a solo employer business at your placement agency or did you have employees? And what was your start up cost? So far I'm researching about how "baby boomers" will be in demand even up to 2030 and looking into how the senior care marketing is going.. The latest trends and technology, recent concerns and problems that family caregivers are facing, etc. One thing I know may help getting clients is you can set up an incentive plan for your family caregivers to earn money by bringing in clients. A win-win :)
Ok so now that I looked into a placement service (which I had no clue about) it looks like building a local website and bringing traffic to clients in need of help with placing their loved one in a facility whether it be a nursing home or assisted living. You as the "lead generator" refers them to a placement home and you get 50-100% of first month's rent for a referral fee. Is that similiar to what you did? It seems like a low cost start up and no extra employees which like you said no payroll and insurance .will placement agencies be useful 30 years from now? I'm not sure since most baby boomers want their loved one in their own home as long as possible. Seems like a good idea though.
Gettiing clients would probably be outside-the-box marketing compared to the traditional way which is still useful but flooded. :)
