Hi all,
I am planning to attend Seneca's part time practical Nursing program for September this year. Just wanting know if there are other people here, also going to be attending there in September. Glad to meet any of you. Or if there are others here that are already doing the program, just give any feedback on your experiences and such. Any info is welcome. Thanks
Hi there, yes i submitted everything except for one course that i have to submit by December. I don't when i will know if i get placed foe clinical. All classes are good so far except for healing 200 and health assessment. They are a bit challenging. Critical thinking questions are still hard but I'm learning through.
If all goes well next semester I'm thinking of taking role300, anatomy200, patho300 and clinical. are these doable? let me know
Also are you now in level 300 or 400. thanks for all your help..
Hi Gosia!
I'm on 3rd semester right now and taking 1 Level 400 course.
Are you planning to do Role 300 and Clinical Placement at the same day? Because they only offer Role 300 on Monday and Clinicals are only Monday OR Saturday.
I agree, Healing 200 and Health Assessment can be challenging. You'll get the groove on answering application questions one day and everything will be a breeze.
Role 300 is easy. You'll have a group presentation, 35% Midterm (I know it's a lot but the questions on the midterm and finals are straightforward) and 40% Final (I believe, I forgot.)
Anatomy 200. They break it out into 2 (30%) Tests and a 40% Final. It gets a bit harder compared to Anatomy 100.
Patho 300 can be tricky for some but I LOVED IT. I had **** ****** and she was an amazing professor. I devoted some time in this course and maybe that's how I ended up with an A.
With that said, are you done with your electives? I was thinking that you can take Patho 300 and Healing 300 together. Healing 300 is a repeat of Patho + Nursing Interventions (my class is currently suffering right now because it is a bit difficult.) DO NOT take Patho 300 and Pharmacology 300 together. I know a lot of people who suffered when they took both courses together since you have tests every 3 weeks (and they both fall on the same week.)
Wow amazing thanks for the information. I definitively will try to get into ****'* class for Anatomy. My clinical will be on Saturday. I really wanted to take healing 300 next semester i think it's offered the same day as anatomy on Wednesdays i believe that's why. I was thinking of adding pharmacology just so i can have 4 classes.. but i won't. i will take it in the summer instead- thanks for this advice. I finished all my electives before nursing school:) thank God for that because it gave me a heads start. i don't have to worry about writing literature essays lol. So are you in 320 for clinicals? Is 220 hard? I had there is a lot of care plans.. and do you do 8hour 12hour shifts?
Almost done with the program. While it was not a completely smooth ride (administration, course offerings, structure, etc), I do not regret choosing this program over others. My only advice is to take your education into your own hands and do as much independent-study as you do for classes. In Seneca (PT) no one is going to stand over your shoulder and demand things, but you are still responsible for the material. :) I love mature learning environment.
Hi Sevillje,
So i just checked grades and i didnt pass 1 class. Health Assessment. I know why, i lost my grand parents during exam time, but i still managed to pass the other 4 classes with 1A even though it's SAT i know i got an A( Math - wasn't bad as i thought it would be, and 3Bs. Surprised Healing 200, got a B, definitely thought i will end up with a C.
But now i don't know if i will be kicked out of the program because of this health assessment, i know at orientation they told us we can only fail 1 class but i'm not sure, i wanted to hear from someone experienced. i'm really scared.
I hope i do continue. I have registered for Health Assessment again this semester and i'm going to kick its butt. But i was thinking of also taking Role 300, Anatomy 200 and Pharmacology. I'm also going for clinical 220 on Saturdays. Do you think it will be doable?
Hi gosia!I'm obviously 2 months late with my reply. Sorry about that! This site would never really tell you if someone messaged you unless you actually check the thread you were on.
So what do you think of Seneca and the breakdown of the program? Hope you did well and got good marks!
Are you taking Lab 200 and Health Assessment the same day? It was stressful to be on Markham campus I remember, that's why I chose to do both of those courses at the same day.
I wish you actually opted on doing Health Assessment on the same semester as your Clinical Placement. During your clinical placement, aside from giving care to your patients, your instructor might ask you to perform health assessment skills that's why. But your semester seems pretty well balanced!
So you submitted all the requirements for clinical placement?
Hope all is well!
Hi! Hi! I saw your post randomly simply because I got an offer for Practical Nursing at Seneca this fall 2018 at King Campus. And I am just wondering how is the program? How is the facilities, teachers, ambiance, and students? Or anything that you could share me within your experience. Thank you!
