Sell Your Nursing Knowledge

Anyone out there frustrated with their present nursing job? I was there a

few years ago and then started writing health care related articles online

for internet marketers. You can supplement your nursing income writing

400-600 word articles. There are internet marketers who own websites

in all health related fields. They buy unique and original articles to post on their

websites and blogs to increase the amount of traffic to their websites. They

want articles on all types of health care topics ranging from heart disease, diabetes, lupus, cancer,

obesity and virtually anything to do with the human body.

If you like to write and want to share your knowledge then think about becoming

an online article writer for hire.

Interesting thread...I believe when you write about health issues, whether as a journalist or RN, you need to make sure your info is accurate and properly credited. Either way you give credit to the researcher or author where you are pulling the info from or basing your work. That is the appropriate thing for any scholar to do...give respect where respect is due.

As for where it goes, who uses it and for what purpose... you may have limited control. If the info (whether it is from an unknown internet provider or a reputable medical journal) is out there and someone wants to use it for their own shady purposes there is not much you can do to stop them. It is a good idea to know where you are submitting your work.

And remember that if you are signing your name and including your RN designation to an article that you wrote you are accountable for the info given just as you are accountable, as a practicing RN, for the info you provide to your patients.

So, I believe, if you are writing as a reputable journalist you give credit to your sources, and if you are writing as an RN you accept accountability for your actions and words. We cannot control others, we can only control ourselves.

People do not always hear what we say, but they do notice what we do.

This is a great thread! Starting your own business takes a lot of work and time because it requires you to be a bigger person and grow. What do you think are the characteristics of becoming a successful nurse entrepreneur?

I've always thought nurses have a lot of expertise but don't know how to leverage that knowledge in an entrepreneurial way many times.

Additionally, there is plenty we know and can publish which doesn't need to be research based. For example, one could create a website to help people with dosage calculations.

They key is...

What do you know that others are interested in?

How can you convey this information to your audience?

How can you monetize this?

How can you protect you intellectual property?

Do you want to retain control of your intellectual property, or sell it to someone else?

I have my own website which has been successful in bringing in a little extra money each month. It was definitely hard work, but I learned a lot in the endeavor, and it's very exciting to have created something and then see it generate money each month.
