No Excelsior is not the only program. There are quite a few schools offer distance/online classroom experiences, though many require you to be local to the program for clinical rotations if not make other arrangements for precepted clinical experiences. Excelsior isn't the only program and it also isn't accepted in California BRN because of the challenge-exam nature of the program. Other states do not accept Excelsior graduates for direct licensure but will accept for license by endorsement with a specified amount of paid RN experience (1000hrs, 2000hrs, etc.) or additional requirements (such as board approved clinical observation experience)
Many brick-and-mortar schools offer nontraditional LPN to ASN/RN programs that are designed for those who cannot complete a traditional classroom/clinical experience such as full time classroom and clinical experiences.
