Do you like being a LPN? :)
That rumor that hospitals are going to phase out lpns has been going on for years and has not happened. It is cheaper for them to hire a lpn vs. rn and our bedside care is vital to all institutions.

I was only over lpns, cnas, and med techs.

Do you like being a LPN? :)
I agree, LPN school was hell. I'm in school for Asn but havent began clinicals yet. However I think it will be a refresher.

Do you like being a LPN? :)
I managed a specialty facility for 3 years. It is not unheard of in Ga, depending on experience but you will not be a manager in a hospital.

Excelsior college and State of Georgia
Thank you so much. I will call them today.

Do you like being a LPN? :)
I am a nurse and have been for 7 years. I have worked in a doctor's office, alf and as Wellness Director in a memory-impaired community. Being a nurse is rewarding and lots of fun especially if you enjoy learning something new almost everyday. Depending on the job that you do, you will do almost the same job as registered nurses except for hang blood and the different management positions.

Seeking LPN to ASN programs
Is Excelsior the only lpn to asn program?
-
Excelsior college and State of Georgia
I am considering Excelsior but am nervous regarding the number of clinical hours. I have been an lpn for 7 years. I want to be the best RN possible but The amt of hours that they are requiring is ridiculous. It really defeats the purpose of going the nontraditional route.

How much do new BSN nursing grads make?
In the Atlanta area, new grads at hospitals make $20 on up and SNF they make about $22 and home health $32.

Background Checks
Since you weren't convicted it will not matter but you should get it expunged. It costs $60 and you can do it yourself. Google "how to expunge an arrest record". Good Luck!

Criminal Record in CA Expunged & I'm ready for nursing school - need advice
I am a nurse who had a criminal background before I obtained my license in Ga. I did have a few jobs turn me down when I first completed nursing school but I did not give up. I found that being honest is the way to go. never disclose your background until after you have secured an interview. This way the interviewer will have an opportunity to get to know you and then you will be able to explain that you were young, or whatever the case may be. On my last job, where I was the Director of Nursing, I interviewed with the owner and Executive Director and after we had talked for hours and I knew that they were impressed with me, I disclosed and they were both OK with it. Now that I have been a nurse for 6 years and have so much managerial experience, I find it easier to obtain jobs. It is also about building relationships with physicians and other clinicians. You will be fine. Hang in there.

I am content to be an LPN...is that wrong?
I too am an LPN and I am a supervisor in LTC. I luv it! Before I obtained lpn licensure I took a phlebotomy course while on my schools lpn waiting list. Having that certificate has helped significantly esp. on the job that I worked when I first recieved my lpn. I worked in a DR's office and was able to manage the lab.
