Hey everyone!! Definitely my place to turn to! :) Ok so I'm taking 4 classes and a lab and they are proving to be a TON of work! In my math class I currently have a 68% and to pass I will need at minimum a 72 on the next 2 tests and final as well as maintain my homework grades. ... I have never failed or dropped a class before.. I've always maintained A's and B's and well.. add in health issues this semester as well as working 30 hours a week plus helping out with whats expected of me at home.. is proving to be soo difficult. I think I'm going to drop my college algebra class This will free up my course load and I'll have the much needed time for my other classes which I will be able to get the grades required (A&P!!). At the same time I've put in this time and effort and money.. and I have two friends that are willing to help me plus the help of the teacher..which is great but I truly don't know if I have the time or could make the time for this class!
One other thing...I'm seriously considering working full time come jan. and taking one to two classes a semester..this will put off me entering the nursing program fall of 2010 but at the same time I will be able to get the grades that are required and be able to bring in more money. (By taking less classes, it will only put me off a semester in the nursing program.. so hopefully Spring of 2011!!) I just don't even know any more.. although any input or advice is welcomed and certainly needed!!

I had to do exactly what you are considering. I was accepted into a nursing program and would currently be enrolled but I had to defer enrollment to finish my career on active duty in the Navy. So I will begin nursing school in January.
I had taken breaks during a couple of semesters when I could have taken my A&P II courses one at a time. Now I am overloaded with A&P lab and lecture, plus Microbiology!! So I am struggling to study for all three classes, and barely attempting to make a B in each.
Whatever you have to do to lighten your load is advisable. Knowing what I know now, I would have taken one easier course with a more challenging course. The positive of our demise though, is that it will prepare us for the loads of study to come in nursing school. But I don't recommend it. Good luck.
Thanks for the advice! I do think that I will be able to make better grades if I drop this course.. plus when I retake it..most likely in the summer.. I'll be able to put all of my focus and attention on this course!

Hi lele2be,
If I were you, I would definitely drop the math class and retake it in the summer. Make sure you are Aces in your A&Ps and Micro because their grades are very important to your entrance into nursing program. I agree with your plan that you will take one class while working full time in Jan. next year. I had done that before when I worked 40 hrs a week and took two classes (A&P) at night at a community college. I had no social life at that time. Just work and study in the library. I am sure you can do it. Hang in there!
Thanks so much! I've talked it over with my parents too and they pretty much have agreed/support me! I hope to ace them.. but it truly is tough!
I dropped the course.. I hate that I couldn't make it through it but I think it will benefit me in the long run! :)
yeah, it definitely benefit you in the long run because the grades are everything you can show. When you apply to nursing program, you will see whether your GPA in your prereq. and overall will get you in priority of others. Good luck!
