  1. i think i have 3.8 or 3.9. sorry don't remember.
  2. Hi, I got an interview call two hours ago too. Does anyone know how the interview is going to be? My interview is also on next Thursday.
  3. hi girls, good to hear from you and your experience. i was a biology major too and worked for a biotech company for a few years, recently got laid off b/c of the bad economy. it was hard to go back to the classroom as i left the college few years ago. i am getting used to it and enjoying a lot. i am going to take one chem course (general & organic combination) in the spring, since my chem courses are more than five years old. maybe take one nutrition & food course also, still debating.
  4. I emailed to ***** if she received my app, and she replied yes. Since you hand delivered it, I don't think you need to worry whether she got it or not. I applied to one of the local CCs for spring 2010, but all applicants were on the waitlist already. According to the counselor, I can get in no later than fall 2010. Hope it is true! Cross my finger. If I can get into any of the RN program, I am happy as a little clam.
  5. right on Carolina11! I have BS in Biology also, just like you jinsooked. currently, i am applying to ADN, BSN, & MSN programs to max my chances to get into nursing program. any one of these programs would give me the RN license. once i hold my RN license, i would work on my degree via RN-BSN, RN-MSN, or Phd.
  6. hi joseph the "jojoba", i applied to CSUN, CSUF, CSULB and couple of CC. just got an email from one of CC that didn't get into the spring semester and probably have to wait until the fall. i am preparing for the TEAS test since CSULB & CC require it and still don't know when to take (waiting for CC to give me the exact date). just like you guys, waiting...
  7. My friend applied to this program last year but she didn't get in.
  8. Grades are very important for getting into nursing program. don't screw the transcript. Micro and A&P 1&2 are prereq. for all the RN programs in CA (maybe not for the school you are going to apply). If you get "A"s on these classes, you will have a better advantage than people don't. It sounds like you have more free time than you wanted. Why don't you do some volunteer at local hospital? They look very good on your nursing application.
  9. Hi Ryan, don't take 3 science courses with lab in one semester even though you don't any social life/work. They are all heavy loaded science classes. Take A&P1, Chem and one/two elective next semester; A&P 2, Micro and one/two elective in the following semester. Unlike "on eagle wings", her/his Micro class doesn't have lab and Math was pretty easy course.
  10. Yeah, go for ADN and BSN. Since your GPA is not so great, ADN is your best backup for getting a RN license.
  11. If you have a BS, your options are far more than some other people don't have. You can go for ADN, A-BSN or ELMSN to get your RN license. ADN offers in community college while you will get your A-BSN or ELMSN in a university. These programs are normally two years, except few ELMSN programs in some universities will take you three years. Since the RN program is very competitive, I suggest you apply as many as you can, even ADN in CC would lead you to the RN license. A lot of people with BS/BA don't want to go to CC to get an ADN because it seems like they are going backward on education. I think it doesn't matter what degree you have (ADN is a degree, not a license) as long as you have your RN license. You will do the same thing as other RNs in healthcare field. You should do some research on the school you are going to apply. I would search nursing schools close to the area I live and their NCLEX pass rate. If you live in CA, you can go to this web for the nursing school with NCLEX pass rate: http://www.rn.ca.gov/schools/passrates.shtml
  12. I think your schedule is doable. You have Monday, Wed, Thurs. afternoon, and Friday to study. I had done it with two science courses with labs, and one/two nonscience class(es). Just go for it.
  13. hi Liz, I am Amy and live in LA county (south bay area). Just got the email from Shelli yesterday stating that they received my app. I am sure yours will get to UCLA next Monday or so. UCLA had about 490 applicants last year and they expected to have 600 applicant this year. The competition is extremely high. Are you reapplying or first time apply? I don't put too hope into it even though I really want to get in. Hate the waiting game! but there is nothing I can do.
  14. Hi kimsjc, Thanks for the detail explanation on your TEAS test. It seemed like the science part wasn't too hard. I will go over my lecture notes on earch science and periodic table.
  15. you can try to apply to ADN nursing program in community college. More likely you will have to apply for Fall 2010. If you have GPA above 3.0 on the last 60 units of B.S/B.A, you can apply for A-BSN or ELMSN in some universities. If you are living in So. Cal, there are a lot of good RN programs for you. If you live in somewhere else, you can check online within your state. I only familiar with nursing schools in So. Cal.
