Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question
newstart85, sorry for late reply. Bio and Chem materials were basically from high school. If you review what is in the book, although there seem to be not much of it, you should be able to do fine. If you still feel like you don't have sufficient info, I would recommend you to check out "nursing entrance exam book" from B&N. This way you can make SURE. :) Currently I am in the day program, it is so far so good. We mostly learn about how health care system is set up, along with fundamentals of nursing. I do not have an idea how the evening class would be like. The HESI exam was computer based, no calculators but they provide you with small marker board(with eraser) that you can use it as scrape paper. Good luck to you, hope you the best!

Bergen Community College Nursing Program Question
I just started my first fall semester. Regarding the HESI, it was a breeze through. They required me to take Math, Reading and Grammar, Chemistry and Biology. I am not sure this goes same to evening class applicants but anatomy and physics were not required. In terms of difficulty... Math - not to be selfish but it was literally 9-10th grade math. Most questions dealth with addition/subtraction, few multiplication. Some questions were straight foward (you just have to figure what x is in a given formula), some were situation-based (still straight foward, cannot get harder than algebra). YOU WILL DO FINE ON THIS! Reading, Vocabulary and Grammar - nowhere near SAT level. Honestly, natives, even second language speaker, could hardly ever find it difficult. If you are able to speak, you are good to go. Biology and Chemistry - High school bio and chem should be sufficient. Most questions were concept based and determine which structure does what. I am sorry I cannot recall any questions that I've had, but they were mostly composed of introductory/concept-based questions. That's why I recomment to get the exam review book that the college recommend. I could have done it even without it but why take chances, right? We all worked so hard to even come to this point. Well, if you feel nervous already, go get this book that they recommend. They advertised real good, made me go get it, and it helped! It's called Admission Assessment Exam Review by Hesi (Eveolve Reach). Heres the ISBN # - 978-1-4160-5635-5 I got this book at B&N Go over it til you become comfortable with the materials. Good Luck to you ALL!

Is there ANY jobs out there!?
If I were you I would have done some checking other similar threads posted on this website. Not to be rude but the question like yours is just too common to deserve a reply and it even appears as insincere. No one here will or can give you direct solution to this matter as you've asked. There are many helpful postings related to this. Check the region section on top of this website, check NJ, NY, and see how they are coping with this difficulty. Good luck!

Would you leave a new job for a better offer??
A very intersting topic, your thoughts would definitely help if I bump into this kind of situation... Thank you all...

New Grad, needs help getting a job at NY presbyterian!!! help
and one more thing.. don't be so upset about "negative" responses. you should rather feel very fortunate to have all these people trying to understand and help you through your situation. it may sound uncomfortable to you since you are not familiar with NYC environment and how NY people talk. just no hard feelings, we all here to help just like you said. GOOD LUCK~

2.5 gpa from 1st degree... any chance at nursing school?
My comments may not be the most helpful one... Previous comments would surely guide you through the right way.. but I was just in your shoe about a month before I got accepted to local cc. I graduated past winter with 2.7 GPA in BS in Biology, and was afraid of even applying to nursing school because of my unsuccessful undergrad years. I knew I wanted to be a nurse in my head but my body just didn't follow up. I was afraid of failing, ended up applying to only one school (which was very very stupid). I must admit that I was a very fortunate one here. The local cc I will be attending for ADN, is known for competitiveness due to low cost and good repuatation. Anyway, it probably depends on the system of admission of schools, but I don't think the GPA can be the only thing they consider. I am sure it is important for their decision, but other factors get into consideration, too. I think they accepted me because the class can be balanced in terms of diversity (i am a male, asian). The class must be diverse especially because I am in a northeast region. I also hold a BS degree just like you. All these things were taken into consideration (I prayed a lot too :)). Well, I don't know what I just wrote, but I just wanted to say these things because I know how you really feel. You are all set to go, ready to hit books in school, can't wait to be one that help peoples lives. But this admission!! It just kills you... I was literally hopeless and depressed until the day before I got my acceptance letter. Everyday was painful, lost smile... But you know, keep your head up... You will get in as long as you don't lose your passion! Everything will work fine. God will be watching you over, and I know this because you are trying to do something that only certain people are willing to do. That is very humble. I am not going to lie about the money I will be making. I NEED them paychecks, too to live! But I think there is a need for us to think little further. And I am sure you have imagined yourself in a hospital, lending hands to those who need YOU! How great would that feel?!?!!! You know, I just can't wait until I am able to do that! Well, I apologize if I took your time away, but I wish you the best, best of luck!!:)

Ages of male nursing students?
If I did not screw up during undergrad, I would be helping save lives! Graduated with BIO when 23, starting ADN at local cc this fall! Now I am 24! OMG I am getting so old so fast! :) Can't Wait!

WOW!!! I just saw how much first semester books cost!!!
o man... that is a lot of money!!! i will be starting the first semester, and now i am SCARED! i should go check right now :) anyway, when i was in college this was how i purchased all my books! 1. never use college bookstore! ( you already know why) 2. get ISBN number and google them. sometimes Amazon isn't always the best place to purchase! 3. used books!! this is crucial, i had this weird habit of buying new books and planned onto keep it the rest of my life, but quitted after the very first semester of college! well good luck with your first semester, and wish me luck too! :)
