New School Nurse...need some advice!
Hello everyone!! I recently just started as a school nurse. It is my first job since i have graduated almost 2 years ago. I have only been working for about a week now and was wonering if anyone could give me some help hits or tips. I was looking for a book that could be helpful as well, just on what to do in certain situations. The other nurse that has been orienting me has taught me to give ice packs for kids with headaches, if they have a stomach ache to take their temperature, if no fever to give them water, allow them to use the restroom and rest for 15 minutres and then have them return to class. For things like that I am just not sure if what I am doing is right or whether it si effective so that is why im posting this. What things have other school nurses found helpful? Any tips and tricks for anyhting school nursing related would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

Is there ANY jobs out there!?
Thank you all for your comments! And thank you all for understand why I was a bit upset at the first rude comment, I am knew to this forum and not too good at figuring my way around it yet lol I will definately look into those avenues that those of you have recommened. I am actually looking to relocate, but wouldn't mind staying local either. I have my BSN but being a new grad is what is limiting me! lol Hopefully in the near future we will all have the luck we are hoping for and get our dream jobs! It is so overwhelming all of the things that I should be doing, that i was unaware of, like Joining professional associations for the specialties i'm interested in, which is such a great idea, thank you! Good luck to all!!

Wow, thanks for your thoughtful response. You don't need to be ignorant and your insincere comment doesn't even deserve a response. I have looked at other forums and found a lot there were posted in 2007 so I wanted to make my own to get other people's current inputs on how they are dealing with the situation. I didn't ask anyone of a direct solution or for anyone to come and do the work for me. I hope I don't get a job where ever you're working because clearly you seemed stressed.

Is there ANY jobs out there!?
So I graduated in May and passed my boards the first time in August. I have applied to what seems like a million jobs and all I get back is "you do not meet the minimun requirements" because I have no experience yet. I swear I haven't found any jobs that don't require you to have at least a year experience. I like in New Jersey but am willing to relocate to get a job. I really want to work in the PICU, NICU or ER and for a job in one of those places I would def relocate to get experience. Does anyone know of any hospitals that are hiring or is anyone else having the same problem as me? It seems like a lot of people from my school are having the same problem, the only people that I know of who have gotten jobs are those that have had tech jobs during school. Please give me any advice that anyone may have! Thanks!
