Hi. I'm seeking the advice of well traveled nurses to source the best online sites for finding lodging throughout the states, particularly in the southwest at the moment. I'm fairly new to the traveling gig and have been primarily using Craigslist, but the safety factor concerns me.
I know there are sites out there that are specific to offering lodgings to travel nurses, but I'm hoping to find out from those of you who have used them which ones are most effective and trustworthy.
I appreciate any feedback. Thank you!

Effective and trustworthy? It is difficult enough to find an agency that meets that criteria and you think we might deal with third party housing suppliers enough to say yes or no?
For the record, major housing suppliers to medical travelers are Travelers Haven, Med Temp Housing, Furnished Finders, and Travel Housing Pro. Just like agencies, I think all of these companies will have their fans and critics so your question is unanswerable. Call them all and make your own choice. Downside is that it will likely cost you more than Craigslist, and the property owner will not be vetted any more than Craigslist unless the housing supplier has used them several times and is honest with you.
Some travelers do very well with VRBO and AirBnB just to add some other possibilities.
Thank you. That was actually helpful.

Craigslist helped me find a fellow travel nurse to sublet my apt in Houston while I'm on assignment in Minneapolis. AirBnB was a Godsend for my assignment here. I stayed in an extended stay and candlewood suites for 2-3 weeks until I found the right semi-perm place. Be resourceful, have fun!
