Second Courser: Should I pursue?

World Philippines

Published

Hello, I am a second courser and I am an education graduate. I am turning 21 this year. I plan to take BS Nursing this year. Do you have any tips and advice to give me? I'll be starting this school year (June).

Do you have any idea how many years would it take for a second courser to finish BSN this time? Thank you so much for your answers!

I can't say it'll be easier four years from now but fewer students are taking nursing at the moment, the Middle East, UK, Ireland, Germany, Japan are continuously hiring nurses from the Philippines and the US has started recruiting Filipino Nurses again.

hi. thank you for your response to this thread. However, i have just given up on my Nursing dreams and pursued what's more practical to do, instead. Still, my heart really wants to be a nurse, yet I have to try learning how to love what I studied when I was in college. Anyway, thank you for the information. :) maybe someday, i could still be a nurse.

Hi! It's okay. You can always take Nursing or any program you are interested in if you still have the desire to do so in the future. When I was in college, most of the 2nd courser students I met were 40 years old and above, there even was a 50+ year old woman. Do whatever makes you happy. Goodluck on your future endeavors.

For those who want to be USRN's you better show something that would make the employers/sponsors/agencies like you.

Like probably someone who has a good score on the IELTS/TOEFL or with a CGFNS certificate (some hospitals only require the certificate and not the CES pathway), with the CGFNS certificate you have more States to apply to.

It is also a plus if you have years of experience or if you have a Master's Degree.
