Seattle University RN-DNP 2018

Specialties Doctoral

Hey everyone! This is for people who are already RN's and applying to Seattle University's DNP program. (I am applying to the psych NP track and have been an RN for 1.5 years at the time my application was submitted). I know the APNI cohort has begun receiving interview requests for top applicants, has anyone who is already an RN gotten an invitation to interview for any DNP track??? If so, how was your interview? What DNP track did you apply to? What are your stats if you don't mind sharing (years of experience as an RN, what type of unit you work on, GPA, educational background, etc). I'm still hopeful but must admit I am getting anxious waiting lol... thanks!

Hi! I will have my BSN in may, and I applied to nurse midwifery!

@littlefeets Awesome! Being a midwife sounds like an amazing path... I hope you get it :) So you did not apply to the APNI program? I'm pretty shocked their is an APNI forum but not one for RN's applying to the DNP program, I wonder why that is. Maybe there are a lot less RN's applying to the DNP program than non-nursing majors I guess. I actually went to Seattle University for my undergrad in nursing so if there is anything I can help you with, let me know! I loved my time at S.U.

@littlefeets Just to clarify, you have not heard anything back yet??? Thanks for sharing!

Hey I applied to the PMHNP program and I also haven't heard back. Did you only apply to SU? And my stats are 8 months of working as an RN at time of application. Around 3.7 GPA. A few extracurriculars like crisis line volunteering and helping out in research. I'm mostly lacking in experience, I think everything else looked ok. How're your stats like?

I applied to UW too but that's it, how about you? Wow! I bet you'll get in!!! That's great you have volunteered and also have crisis line experience... I'm in the same boat as you I think, I feel pretty good about everything except experience lol I have a 3.8 in psychology from UW, 3.6 in nursing from SU, and 1.5 years experience in a med surg unit. As far as extracurriculars go, I volunteered at Lifelong AIDS Alliance, taught refugee kids English, and am currently on an infection control committee where I work. I really really hope we get in!!!

Well you're close to two years, which I think is preferential for a lotta schools, good luck! And your extracurrciulars seem great too(:

I dont have any RN experience as I'll be graduating with my BSN in may. I have a 3.88 in my last semester of my ABSN, and I have about five years of experience working as a health educator/medical assistant before nursing school. I last worked at UCSF women's options center and before that I worked at Planned Parenthood. I also have about three experience as a volunteer health educator in a women's community clinic. And I'm trained as a doula. I hope we all get in!

@littlefeets That is so cool! I bet you will get in!!! When do you take the NCLEX? Not gonna lie, I studied a LOT for it. I paid for the Kaplan course and did every single practice question they offered.

Sounds like no RN's have heard news from SU yet... I think we are still in the running! :)

eanda27, I take it as soon as I can! So probably the last week of May/1st week of June! Seattle U is a little bit of a gamble for me because if I don't pass the NCLEX I can't go since they start in June. My program actually incorporates the Kaplan program throughout and this semester especially we do sooooo many practice questions each week and we are going to be doing a bunch of practice tests, so I think I'll be OK!

@littlefeets Nice! Oh yeah you will for sure pass, then you can officially call yourself a nurse :) Best feeling ever... Sending you good NCLEX vibes!!! Keep in touch!

Nice to get that email just now! Crossing my fingers for us all!
