i just received email from (moderator edit of name - please do not name individuals in your program per tos) saying that the classes start in june - so i am guessing i'm out, since i have to take some credits during the spring and that will be too late..

Just joined allnurses and saw this thread...I've been wondering all these things too.
I am applying for the CNM program as well, with a Spanish/Public Health/International Studies background from Ohio State (hey blackbird singing!)
I'm about to graduate in December, as I am currently working on three of the pre-requisites. I will only have anatomy/physiology left to complete before june. I'm hoping that won't make me uncompetitive...
I agree that if anyone is in the Seattle area you should drop by Garrand Hall and try to talk with someone. I had a fabulous informal meeting with one of the women who started the program and she helped me out so much.

Hey banannie! I have a Spanish degree from OSU, too!! We probably have had some classes along the way at some point... I just graduated in June.

I'm applying for the PMHNP track in December. Not sure how competitive I am, but I'll never be accepted into the program if I don't apply :) My former education includes a BS in chemistry (UW) and a MA in secondary science teaching (WWU). Ideally I'd love to specialize in working with children, especially adolescents.

I recently received my CNA so am currently looking for a hospital assistant / patient care technician position, so if anyone has contacts at local hospitals, I'd love to chat with you.

I'm looking forward to learning more about my potential classmates!

Hey Kalium, I'm applying for psych as well! I have a degree in psych and have worked for several years doing psych research working with clinical populations. I've been volunteering at a hospital as well. We'll see how it goes...

Hello all! I am applying to CNM as well. I'm mailing my letter of intent and resume tomorrow and then everything will be in! Reading this has given me insight, I was really curious what kind of backgrounds other applicants have. I have a BA from University of Florida in education and some post-bach work at a local college to get all my pre-req's in. I still have yet to complete 2 of them so that makes me very nervous. I plan on doing them in the spring. I'm really nervous about getting in- I am putting all of my eggs into the Seattle U basket! I have a lot of volunteer experience but its all in working with children, hardly any in medical field (just a bit of shadowing at a doctors office). I feel like I am a long shot applicant but I would SO love to get in.

Barbaraleev, good to know that you're taking courses in the spring as well. I don't think you should be worried about these two courses at all. Do you work in education as well (paid)? I am curious to hear what kinds of jobs other people have after graduating. Good luck to you!

Hi guys,

I'm also applying to Seattle U's accelerated program. I graduated last December from SMU with a music education degree, and I am taking nursing prerequisites this fall and in the spring. What I have seen with almost all of these programs is that the prerequisites must be completed by the time the program starts, which means you can still work on them in the spring for a summer start date. Since all of these programs have different prerequisites, I am taking a full load this and next semester to get them all in by the end of the spring (a&p 1&2, chem 1&2, microbio, nutrition, dev psych, statistics). So Calinca, I wouldn't be too worried.

If anyone is in Seattle, I saw that either South Seattle CC or Seattle Central have all the prerequisites online. Even anatomy - with labs all day on Saturday. I am wondering if anyone took these.

I didn't work in education, I immediately enrolled back in school to take science courses after finishing my degree. I am taking organic chem and anatomy right now, and next semester I am taking microbio and anatomy 2. Probably nutrition as well. What's everyones back up plan if not offered admission? What brought everyone to Seattle U? Is it the only place you are applying?

I am not working right now, I had two babies in the last two years. (and I have a 9 year old). So my plan if I am not offered admission is to try to figure out what I can do to increase my chances for the next round. I used to work in pathology research but I am not sure if I want to go back to research or not, or if there will be something else that I can do that will make the transition from microbiology to nursing easier.

I live in the Seattle area so Seattle U was the obvious choice. I am not applying anywhere else either because as much as I really want to get in (even if it takes years) I still need to put my family first. I am 34, 3 kids, my husband is the sole bread winner and we just bought a house. Two years ago I would have uprooted our family and moved, now.. not so much.

I am not even religious but the more I read about Seattle U, the more I love it. I will get in when the time is right.

What about you all?
