scrubs for short wide people?

Published

Hello! :)

I've seen lots of scrubs topics but I didn't see any on anyone with my shape ;-)

I'm 5'1" and 200 pounds... I wear a size 18 in "normal" clothing.

Anyone have any suggestions for scrubs. I'd love to order online as there isn't any place local to me to get them. However, I am concerned with the "fit". I'm afraid they'll either be too long or they'll be tight in the hips/thighs and too baggy in the legs?!

Any places you guys would recommend for short plus size scrubs? I'm also not sure if I would fit in a 1x or 2x? Are there any measurement charts?

Hi Zannie,

Try SASSYSCRUBS.COM. They have sizes up to 4x. The inseams start at 29", but you can have them made longer or shorter. The cast of the show ER wears their scrubs :D You can shop right online. Hope this helps.

I feel your pain! My problem is that I am tall and wide. My difficulty is this...if I go to a larger size, the waist is bigger, but the butt, hips, and thighs are the same as in the smaller size. My waist is not big...my problem is my butt and hips. Did you ever notice how they seem to make scrubs that are designed like a man's body? I swear, most scrubs don't even come up to my waist, but that may be more because of my height than my width (I am 6 ft tall). The women's sizes aren't too bad, but if I have to float to an area that wears hospital issued scrubs...forget it! Total plumber's ass hanging out! I swear I should design my own pants, skirts, and undies for plus size women. I found the brand that works best for me are the cherokee brand with the boxer waist band. They come in women's sizes (which fit better than the standard 1x,2x,3x) and the come in petite, average, and tall lengths. You can find this brand in most catalogs and nursing stores. I wish you luck in your pursuit. I know how frustrating shopping can be.

My fave scrub website is www.scrubsbydesign.com They have a variety of sizes and carry the Cherokee boxer pants, which I think have the best fit. I wear a 16-18 in regular clothes and the Extra Large Cherokees fit perfect (I am 5'6"). They have excellent customer service and if you e-mail them your questions, I'm sure they'd be able to help. No, I don't have a financial stake in the company...I have just found them to have stellar service!!

Im 5'1 too! :)

try the company a-z uniforms. I got 4 sets of tops and bottoms there for about 70 dollars. Short inseams too. They go up to 6x last time i checked, i like my pants to really fit good, and these do!, and i like bigger tops with lots of pockets, and they have them too.

Yay!

One nurse at work is short and gets the "cuffed" style pants so she doesn't have to hem them. Might be worth a try?

You might want to take a look at http://www.basicscrubs.com. They have plus sizes. Also, someone had provided a link here a few weeks ago to http://www.scrubsonline.com, but I can't seem to find it now. They had some kind of directory that identified companies that sold larger sizes.

just been reading about you girls and your scrubs!!

This is a really weired concept for me as am a UK resident. Our uniforms are not any way as comfy as scrubs so unless I decide to go to Cas or Theatres I have to wear a dress!!

You seem to have a really nice support system going on here, perhaps you have room for a transatlantic member?!
