Scott & White in Temple

Published

Does anyone know anything about Scott & White hospital in Temple? I'm from the panhandle & it seems to have a pretty good reputation here. I noticed it's a top 100 hospital too. But what is nursing like there? Any comments would be appreciate!

Hi,

I'm originally from the Lubbock area, so we are kindred hearts. I have heard very good things about Scott and White, but it seems they are very particular on the hiring process. From my understanding, as with most large co., they prefer to " hire from within," even if it means a transfer from the Waco area or vice versa. I myself applied with them last year and never got a response or a return phone call after leaving a voice mail. Best of luck to you.

P.S.

My family and I are thinking of relocating back your way. What is the job market like in the area for nurses. I prefer to stay away from LTC.

Thanks,

threeddonzi

Currently, Scott & White is about to open a new 300+ bed hospital in Round Rock, Texas. They're hiring big time right now. I worked for S&W Temple about 12 years ago and its like many large county teaching hospitals. It has so many interns and students working for free or for low wages in most departments that it didnt pay its full timers well. Lots of agency or travel employees. I dont know how it is now.

Temple is a horrible place to live...

You will be dealing with a lot of military family members since Fort Hood is right down the road ;) I was seen by a specialist a few years back and had a good experience as a patient. Don't know what it's like to be a nurse there but remember the hospital and staff to be nice
