Well Kaplan says they want you in the 60-65% in order to comply with the "money back guarantee" thing. I'm not taking Kaplan but my friends are so that is how I know. I used the Saunders book with CD and I got a higher score on my HESI than the Kaplan people. Food for thought.

I passed and most of my scores were high 50's and 60's. I've got a couple of 70's but not often. I even score 48 once close to the test and I passed!.

I studied Saunders and did some of the questions. They are okay to boost your confident and review, but they are either very easy or non-NCLEX type (meaning that they are asking data, not interventions). Kaplan is good because is more close to NCLEX (dang! it is harder than NCLEX)

I used the qbank only.

Good Luck

I'm also getting scores in the 50s and 60s with kaplan and it's making me nervous too. I feel your pain!! It makes me feel a little better that some people got close to the same scores and still passed...so thanks you guys for the encouragement. Still I'd sleep much better if all my scores were 65 and above though!

THANK YOU LANTUENO VERY VERY MUCH!:nuke::bowingpur:heartbeat:bowingpur:nuke: Especially your message encouraged me to take the test. Otherwise, I was even thinking about rescheduling :uhoh3: my test date, 'coz I was scoring in high 50's & mid 60's :banghead:, i got only a few in low 70's. I strongly agree with what you said about Saunders & Kaplan! I liked Kaplan:up: better, though I was scoring lower on that. I used Kaplan Strategies book & CD, Kaplan Question Trainer CD, Saunder's Q&A book & CD, and a little bit of NCLEX-RN 3500 CD. Also, thank you :heartbeat:bow::heartbeat:bow: Mave & Rizapride & everyone who posted :typing on this forum!!! :nuke::bowingpur:nuke: You guys are awesome!!! :redpinkhe:nurse::redpinkhe

My Kaplan scores ranged from mid 30% to about 80%. Most of the time, though, I was scoring in the 50's and 60's range. I passed with 97 questions. :) So, don't give up! Keep doing the questions and you'll be okay. :)

hey guys!!! thank you100x sooo much for the boost.. man, my exam is like 10 days from now... i'm trying to build confidence, but like they say, "expect the unexpected on NCLEX"..actually my kaplan expires in 2 days! wahahah:bugeyes: and i also answer questions on prentice hall, has anybody heard of it?! it's much harder than saunders, kinda like kaplan and my scores don't reach 75%.. highest i think up to 69% only...huhuhu...:chuckle:banghead: oh well!! did you guys ever experience answering questions and not knowing the answer yet get high scores? but when you think you know, you get low scores?! that always happens to me!!!:yeah: weird!!

You are welcome.

It seems to me you are preparing yourself a lot. I like also the 3500 the way the show the rationales, I didn't use it that much, though. However, my advise is prepare thouroughly but don't delay taking the NCLEX. The sooner is the better. I agree that you should not go foolishly and fail (having to wait 45-90 days and wasting $200) but you have also to take into consideration that you have certain momentum from school that is priceless. The more you wait, the more staff you are forgetting.

Also, looking other people posts, 50-60 is pretty much the average for everybody.

Remember to review your prioritazion, delegation and infection control.

And, as I told in another post, make yourself a "mantra" for the test. Something like "everything is going to be OK", "I am the best" or a prayer. When you are taking the test and start to panic, repeat you mantra (6-7 words) over an over. That way, since you can think two thoughts at the same time, your haead will empty all the distracting stuff ("I need to start working". "I can't afford another test", "What is my husband/wife/parents going to say if I fail" etc..). This will help you to refocus on the test.

In my opinion, NCLEX is crazy but the question are a little easier than Kaplan's.

Good Luck!!!!

Im getting around 60% to 70% as well and getting ready to take NCLEX this Monday. Thanks all for the encouraging posts.
