hello everyone, pleasant day! I'd like to ask a question with regards to the steps i need to take if i wanted to pursue to become a "nurse educator"...uhm, i know their are nursing educators in the hospital and of course to those who teach at nursing schools but i've been told that all you need at some "schools" to teach nursing is a BSN degree, but to be a nurse educator in the hospital setting you need to have an MA/MS degree. I already have a BSN degree and was thinking of pursing my MA/MS to be able to become a nurse educator in the clinical setting (acute facilities/sub-acute facilities). Would anyone of you be able to give me advice with regards to finding a good school around Los Angeles County that would provide a MA/MS degree flexible to a working schedule with a feasible tuition fee and shorter amount of days to earn that degree. Hello everyone, I've really been having a hard time trying to get hired here in California (almost 5 months of trying to look for a place to start!) from gov't hospitals to skilled nursing facilities, and still no luck, can anyone give me good advice on where i can actually find a job? an agency?? its so difficult as well since New graduate programs are mostly for new graduates here in the US and seldom i guess would hire New Grad's outside of the country, but still i know there are, do any of you know a good place where i can start?? please, i really need help on this, I'm starting to get worried:no: on when i can actually start my profession but I'm trying to keep my hopes up.. hello everyone. I would just like to ask if any of you know where i can buy (in-store or online) nursing shoes that are of a smaller size than 6?? As i browsed the net, they usually have shoes with the smallest size being size 6.huhuhu... do you know a good place or brand that I can find my size of comfortable shoes? thank you for you help!!:heartbeat:D

hello everyone, i've been applying online to find a job but i'm not quite sure if i'll ever be hired, most hospitals are looking for somebody with a year or so experience and my status is somewhat like a new grad, coming from another country with less than a year experience, do you know a good place where i can start this profession? is it better for me to start at a nursing home instead and apply there?

hi! take it easy, relax!! don't get terrified you can do this.. i know you can! Since you already have your ATT, have you scheduled yet? if you haven't well, this is what i did. I actually reviewed in kaplan (8days class and everything else online) at the end of january08- april08 (3 month access only) and i got my ATT on march, so everything before march was like "?!?"..i wasn't really serious, because i didn't have the exact date of the exam and the adrenaline wasn't kicking in yet. But, before you schedule, make sure you have the estimated days to actually "comprenhesively" get enough info to say you're prepared for the exam, don't just rush things just to get it over with because that could lead to failure and for sure, studying all over again is something you don't want to go through again!! Might as well say, slowly but surely?!hehe.. And always stick to one resource book, the one you'd be reading from cover to cover, and practice questions everyday (As in..everyday!! at least 50?). I would have to say study at least 4 hours a day? or as much as your body and mind can handle, and make sure you have break time in between... i do, whenever i get sleepy, i sleep (go to my bed and roll around!!zzz) then get back up again. Also, make sure you have a good diet and have enough glucose (brain food!!) when you study, snacks beside you? how great!!hehe And most of all, before starting your day and anything, pray and give thanks that your blessed to be in this profession. Sacrificing now, can do soo much later... just always think of the long term goals..

hi there. For me, i would have to say kaplan (they have the most outstanding, confusing questions!!!very good to get your brain working!!whahaha) But once you start answering questions and get the hang of it, you start to understand how to answer questions correctly. In prioritization (critical thinking is really used...ABC's, maslow, go back to basics i think) delegation and leadership on the other hand, you gotta know what are the specific tasks for differrent personal, start memorizing it (saunders has a good list of it, the book i have entitled "strategies for success for the NCLEX-RN examination is a good book to browse and get tips, not really a comprehensive thiing, but has good keypoints, like that of specific tasks of CNA, RN, NA...etc.. it's just a suggestion) I hope this would help.

hi, that's so true!!I know what you mean, different books have different values... but i think the best thing to do is find one particular book, memorize that and forget the rest! i mean, nclex won't be giving you values that are in close proximity of the normal value, usually it would be very obvious and you'e be able to spot it right away. i took the exam already, and unfortunately i didn't even have any normal or abormal lab values there... but i passed at 75.

hey, my QT#7 was like 62% (dats what i can remember?!). You know what don't be so bugged about not getting too high on kaplan cause they have HARD questions, and if you try to compare answering other practice questions (saunders, prentice,lippin.etc) i bet you'd get higher scores. But the main thing is, take your time in answering the questions, understand what it's asking (apply the decision tree), the nclex is quality and not quantity. Pray always and don't think negative, its good to be optimistic!!!

it usually takes 3-4 weeks, but if you're from california and have an SS as they say, you get it earlier. i took the exam on may 5, and got the results on May 12, so i waited for only a week.

Thank you for your reply. What I meant about “only volunteering” was that my experience in the clinical area aside from college without supervision from clinical instructors was only minimal (60days). Aside from that, I was also taking into consideration the type of hospital (primary, secondary, tertiary) I was volunteering in. I just graduated 2 years ago and unlike America, my country is not as highly advanced and the availability of resources (whether person or equipment) were scarce, which is why it could be somewhat intimidating and scary to begin with. Anyway, thank you for the response… and sorry if my vocabulary with the use “of like” redundantly makes me look uneducated, I didn’t really expect this forum to be a ‘formal’ one, so I thought any use of language (not violating the rules and regulations) would be appropriate and accepted, I didn’t know we’d be judged by it. Hia there guys, uhm... thank you for those who really took the time to answer some of my questions when i was about to take the exam, i really appreciate it!!!I'm so blessed w/ this website! anyway, since i passed, i really don't know how to start, where do you think would be the best place to start working? convalescent home? i'm like a foreigner to this country, im filipino and i'm kinda scared:no: and new cause i really didn't even have that much experience in being in the hospital,(i graduated 2yrs ago) i like volunteered only and it was like only for 60days.hehe and plus..waaaaaaaaahhh, i don't want to be put on like heavy duty work with big patients right away!!!huhuhu... i'm really petite (like 4/10'' or 4'11'') maybe when i start, i'll break my spine or something..hehe... anyway, do you guys have any advice for a good place to start?:redbeathe:bow: thank you for your time!!!mwuahhhhh!!!

my kaplan expired already, i practice saunders and prentice hall.. but, they are not as hard as kaplan...hehee. ok, i've been answering questions too, but 50 a day...hehee... man, this is it!!! uhm, oh, yah...
