A friend trying to get into CRNA program told me that most schools want your science classes (ie chemistry, biochem, etc) to be taken within 5 years before you start the CRNA program. Is this TRUE???
I've graduated 6 years ago, am planning to get into a program 2 years from now. So does this mean i would have to retake these classes?

Depends on the school, but you will most likely have to retake some. Either way, don't let that be the deciding factor on choosing a school. Pick 2 or 3 solid programs and then do whatever they ask. Point is that retaking a few classes is a minor issue in the scheme of things ... getting a good education is much more important.

Would argue that it is a good idea to take a science or two however it does depend on where you apply and your overall strength of application. I haven't taken a chem since 1999 and was accepted. Yet my BSN GPA was a 3.93 and I have 6 years of ICU experience, CCRN, etc...
Put it this way, you apply, they say no, find out why and do what they say and then your almost certain for the following year. Good luck! :)

Some schools require less than 5 years since a specific science class was taken. Most schools tell you on their requirement for admission page. I applied to 6 schools and only two required any additional science classes and nothing was specified about being in the last 5 years. The course was biochem. I got into my first pick of school and it did not require any further classes. I took my science classes over 10 years ago.
I suggest reviewing the admission requirements of the schools you are interested in and if you still have questions ask the school directly.
Good luck. Let us know.

Depends completely upon the program you are applying to. Most recommend having science courses in the last 5 years, but not all require it. Some require an assessment or physiology course within the last 5 years. One school here in Florida requires a chemistry course within the last 5 years. You may need to re-take a course or two depending on which program you apply to. Most programs have a website that spell out the requirements. Good luck!
