In 1987, Aspen University, a private, for profit institution, was established. The School of Nursing was established to offer the opportunity for Registered Nurses to gain a bachelor's or master's degree in nursing. Most students are working full time while earning their degree. Students are offered a flexible schedule with an online classroom option.

Undergraduate Nursing Programs

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Completion Program

The BSN program is an RN to BSN program developed for registered nurses who hold an associate degree or Diploma in nursing and would like to advance into a baccalaureate degree. Most students who enroll have the goal of completing their degree while working and having time to go online to do their coursework.

The courses are 100% online and the student can complete it within one year (full-time).

  1. Resume or curriculum vitae
  2. Official transcripts for previous college credit earned
  3. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN or ASN) or Diploma in nursing from CCNE or NLN accredited program
  4. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater
  5. Current licensure as a registered nurse in the United States or Canada
  6. Minimum one year nursing experience completed within the past five years
  7. Military documentation (optional) includes copy of most recent orders or copy of DD214

Graduate Nursing Programs

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)

Classes are available online with 24/7 access and the student can complete the program in 20 months. Full-time and part-time options are available. Aspen University offers discounts for the Military. There are required practicums available for selected clinical practice or academic settings under the direct supervision of a preceptor.

  7. Students who have earned college credit may submit a transfer credit evaluation report with corresponding course descriptions and official transcripts from accredited institutions in order to determine which credits may be applied toward the requirements of a program

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) RN to MSN Bridge Program

Current RNs who hold an associate's degree or Diploma in nursing are eligible for the online, RN to MSN specialization. The program is designed for adult learners wishing to advance their career and complete their master's degree without the on-campus class requirement.

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is a practice-focused program that conjoins a scholarly approach to the discipline of nursing while advancing the profession of nursing through practice. The DNP Capstone Project is an intensive, immersive experience.  The student must complete a total of 1000 hours of clinical practice immersion hours.

  1. Current license as a registered nurse in the United States or Canada
  2. Evidence of a master's degree in nursing (MSN) or a relevant discipline in the form of official transcripts from an accredited institution or an equivalently certified degree from a recognized foreign college or university
  3. GPA must be 3.0 or greater
