I'm on my way working towards getting into nursing school, I'm currently taking my prereqs at a junior college. I received a c in my anatomy lab class and also a c in the main anatomy class. Is there any change of me getting into any nursing school with two C's coming from Anatomy(lecture) & the physiology(lab) portion. If I work to get better grades in my chemistry, microbiology and other classes could that help, get me into a school?
Also are there any nursing programs in Texas that accept low GPA's? Or are there any nursing programs that accept low gpa's that I can do any online without having to move to another state that are accelerated?

Hey Jayda,
I would say that the grades you get in A&P are some of the most important grades. You can retake the class and try to get an A. Several schools in Texas will take your highest grade in A&P and prerequisites, if you retake them. Depending on the school you apply to, I would not apply with a C in the science prereqs because it's just too competitive and you could be denied. I do not know what every school in Texas requires, I am only aware of the schools in Southwest Texas. Good luck!

Hi! I don't know many schools except for a few here in Houston but I would say TWU is very competitive to get into so the higher your GPA and TEAS scores are the better chances you have. For UTHealth i got rejected one semester and then waitlisted and rejected another semester and then accepted. Their website says the minimum GPAs they require are 2.75 for the prereqs and 3.0 in the science classes. Many students with the highest GPAs get rejected and many with lower GPAs get accepted so who knows what their criteria of selection is. I was applying also for HCC's ADN program and they just require 3.0 and their acceptance rate from the info session I went to this February i think was like 50ish%. I will say that I got a C on Nutrition class but i doubt that counts as high as A&P. I don't know where you plan to apply buttt I would say you do have chances to get into one if you improve your grades for the rest of the science classes and/or retake the A&P classes you got a C on and you do really good on the Hesi/TEAS.

Hello, getting 2 c's on your sciences is not that bad especially if you make a's on what you have left, doing this will give you a 3.00 GPA on your sciences. If you do not make a's on what is left it can be a problem and you might have to retake them. But it depends on where you are wanting to attend because some schools have an individual minimum GPA for science classes alone, and the overall GPA with all the prereqs. most schools in texas do this that's why it's very important to get at least a b on your science classes. ?
