Subject: [sCHLRN-L] National School Nurse Day
I knew that no one in my private high school was going to have any idea
about National School Nurse Day. So I sent the following e-mail around
to the whole faculty and staff first thing in the morning:
"Good Morning" Today is National School Nurse Day. Failure to be
extra specially nice to me today will result in stiff fines and mandatory,
minimum jail sentences."
Teachers were bowing and genuflecting at me all day. One gave me a
crisp, military salute. It was a riot.

So sorry you were overlooked this year. Every year I do my bulletin board with pictures (School Health catalog covers are great, and search images online) and history of School Nursing. Any little card I get I post on my board. Little by little teachers and kids start to notice. You got to "blow your own horn" !!! Also finding appreciation in small ways, like the spontaneous thank you from a kid, or a sigh of relief from a parent, will help you get thru!

Hello School Nurses !
Of course you all know that yesterday was National School Nurse's Day.
I guess Ijust need to vent...but once again....I was forgotten by my school.
No well wishes or thank you's. This is typical of my staffers though.
I feel so let down. All I really needed was an "atta-boy" or something.
I break my neck here each day and no one ever notices...unless I am absent one day... then they notice...
Just feeling kind of low today....
Thanks,
