I have been a nurse at a Middle school for 3 years. My starting wage was under 20.00 an hour, I was started at the bottom of scale with 40 yrs experience. I love my job but am not adjusting well to no pay in the summer. I can work at school for 12/hr doing other jobs. I would like input this was to be my last job. Very happy but haven't made this much money since 1989,LOL.
I too left a high paying hospital job to be a SN, but I love it! SO MUCH less stress, and the time with my children is priceless. That being said, we have what is called "stretch pay" so basically my salary is stretched over 12 months of the year, not just the 9 or 10 months or school, so I get paid all year long. Is that something you can do in your district?
I also work summer school, which is extra pay and is only a few weeks in the summer and only 8a - noon.

I've been thinking about it. I love the job SO much but I have been working M-F and then a 12 hour hospital shift nearly every weekend. It's getting a little tiring.
