I have been given a question for an exam and need an answer to it can anyone help? the question is... "most medications are referred to in 3 different ways... what are they?"

Sorry for this but I am getting older and finding study harder!

Just a simple question...What are the effects of medication on a empty stomach. Is medication absorbed faster or slower? Thanks

You have 2 questions here.

1. Medication may irritate the stomach if empty. Certain meds can alter the pH of the stomach.

2. Depends on the medication. Some will need an empty stomach , others need to bind w/ food to absorb.

There should be a section on this in your pharmacology book, probably toward the front, on pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
