How do you detect schizophrenia and What are the causes?

Babies born in spring also have a greater incidence of developing schizophrenia later in life than babies who were born at other seasons.

Just curious as to why this particular thing is true. Not doubting you at all but just curious what causes this. Anybody know ??

The hypothesis is that babies in utero are exposed to something like a flu virus at a particular point in the development cycle which makes those babies more susceptible to schizophrenia. But it's only a hypothesis and no one knows for sure. The dept chair of psychiatry at one of the universities I worked for told me that.
