SCCC Fall 2014 - Suffolk

Published

anyone applying for the RN program at Suffolk Community College - Fall 2014??

I'm planning on getting my bachelors after the associates and then I hope to get my masters and be a NP but I do hope to get a job as a RN with just an associates.. Not sure how lucky I will be :/ .. I think nursing homes are more lenient however I would prefer to work at a hospital

I want to do the same thing . But I don't want to wait till I get my bachelors to start working .. This is the only thing I am worried about, I heard it is really hard to get a job as an associate RN

I heard it's hard but not impossible.. I think if you're working towards your bachelors they are more willing to employ you

I'm planning on taking a CNA course this summer and see if I can get a job this way and gain some experience. I do plan on getting my BA as well.

Cj... That is a good idea where are you taking the course and how long is it?

I was thinking of doing CNA too! I work at a doctors office and I've been there for 7 years! I am the office manager, I just don't have the hands on experience that would be more helpful as far as getting a job as a nurse.

Tmd ... That is funny seems like we all have a lot in common, I also work a t a doctors office... I want more hands on experience as well.. I am afraid to leave here though and be a CNA since I been working at the doctors office so long I think the pay would be a lot less. Although the experience would probably help a lot when it comes time to get a nursing job

I was looking into a course at boces which offers a CNA course. I currently work at a doctor's office too!

I believe the course is 6 weeks.

I had asked at Grant the other day, they said mid March. Fingers crossed.

Thanks CJ I will look into that program! Good luck everyone!!!

I just finished a CNA course. I was employed at a local hospital in the business office for the past 6 years but I was recently layed off. I am now looking for CNA jobs and I am very disappointed at the salary I will be looking at for now. . It is definitely a step down from what I made in patient accounts but I truly hope the experience in patient care benefits me in the long run. I guess we are all in a similar boat, good luck to all of you.
