Does anyone know about this program? I have searched and cannot find an information packet on the program. I'm guessing it's similar to the Gateway/Banner program and figured I could apply for that one too. It sounds like it's on the same timeline as Banner's as well.
I know they give preference to employees (as Banner does). I also have been told by many advisors at MCC to NOT list it as one of my five choices -- that you have to go through a different pathway to apply. They have it listed just to "let you know it's available". Well, here I am...wanting to apply but cannot find out where!
Anyone?

Hi Deanna,
I think your best bet would be to call the advsior for SCC. I did searches all over the web and couldn't find anything on it. One of my friends who is in the Banner program said that SCC wouldn't be offering it anymore but she could be wrong.........The only thing that I could find out was that the campus would be about a 30 mile commute so that wouldn't work with my daycare situation.......

I'm pretty sure I know what program you're talking about. Scottsdale has a program where they've reserved 1/2 of their seats (I think about 20) for employees of Scottsdale Healthcare. There is no work commitment after school (as in Banner) it's just some slots made available for SH employees. You can still apply for the same program, 1/2 the slots are for regular students. I'm not sure why they told you it was on the ap as an information only spot and I"m pretty sure it's the accelerated (16 month) program which starts in March (I don't have my ap right here so I can't check it)
Good luck
Keli
Yes, it is an accelerated program like Gateway/Banner. But like them, I'm guessing SCC/Scottsdale HC has their own application process.
Good advice, Mary. I'll give them a call and see what turns up. I'll let you know.
It would be a haul for me to get to SCC but I figure it'll be a haul (and a pain in the !@*?%& to drive to Gateway in downtown Phx. The benefit would be working for Scottsdale Healthcare. They've been voted the best place to work in Phoenix (healthcare). I have several friends that work there and swear by the crew there.

I know what you mean about Scotsdale Healthcare. My neighbor worked there and loved it. Scottsdale Osborne wouldn't be too bad of a drive but the locations on Shea and Thompson Peak Pkwy (which is where I think the partnership classes take place) would be too much of a haul for me. Especially if gas prices stay around 3.20 a gallon! Let me know what you find out......
I called SCC today this is what I found out:
It's an accelrated 16 month program
There is no work committment required afterward
Classes start in March and end in August
No special application process, you just need to mark them as a choice on your application
1/2 of the studenst are SCH employees, the other 1/2 are drawn from the application pool
Most classes are held at the North Scottsdale campus
Mary,
Thats sounds too easy. Just mark it as one of my choices, huh?
North Scottsdale....do you mean the Shea & Thompson Peak Pkwy or Osborne? Osborne would be south I guess. Gee, that would be nice.
Thanks for calling.

It's Thompson Peak Parkway.....I know, it does sound too easy. I kept asking the advisor, "are you sure that's all I need to do?" lol! She said that as long as we meet the requirements to turn in our aps we could mark it down.....
How is the volunteer work at the hospital going?

Hello,
I start this program in January & the lab classes are @ the SCC campus, the lectures are actually @ SHC's Headquarters on Mountain View (very close the the Shea hospital), & clinicals areTBD.
Hope that helps.
