SCC/ARC Fall 2021 Sac City/American River College

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Anyone else submit their apps for SCC or ARC for fall 2021?I submitted my SCC packet last week and ARC the other day. I was hoping my online app status would change to received but it still says submitted

Just got my rejection email. Eservice Status was not yet changed though for those of you wondering.

Hi. Did anyone apply to the lvn to RN program at arc?

Also got my rejection email. That’s a full 3 this round again. I’ve been rejected so many times, this round was really soul crushing honestly. Going to see about taking pharmacology for Yuba and looking at private schools. Still not getting in is really putting a lot of things on hold even longer for me. I feel for everyone else not getting in anywhere whether it’s your first, second... fifth or sixth round. Nonetheless, good luck to everyone getting to their goals! And congratulations to those who got in at any program! See some of you guys on the next nursing apps thread! ?

All colleges should be Merrit Based. It is simply not fair that I have been busting my b*tt off to get 4.00 GPA with three kids and a job, but have to let random selection decide whether I am getting into Nursing school or not. #bummed

It might be too late for me to even have kids if I don't get accepted soon

Good luck to you as well in the future. I’m getting off this chain for now.

Just got mine too. Congratulations to those that got in! And good luck to everyone else next time. I only applied for ARC this time, but next round it’ll be ARC, Sac City, Sierra, CSUS and the LVN at Sac city.

Talk to you guys then ?

Got rejected to both SCC LVN and ARC ADN programs. But, I got into the alternate list for SCC ADN nursing. They said they won't be disclosing ranking order though. ?

Specializes in Emergency Department.

I went to SCC and I was one of the students that was accepted to both ARC and SCC for the same starting semester. SCC runs their program a little differently from ARC but the basics are going to be fairly similar as ARC originated from SCC many years ago. SCC, from what I understand, places a higher emphasis on doing patient care plans than ARC does but in the end, students from both have a good education. It is true (at least when I went there) that SCC students did some things that the "same" semester students from Sac State didn't, at the same facility. I recall when SCC stepped up to a single 12 unit course per semester from a 10 unit with a supplemental course that was 2 units. If you're looking to stay or be a full time student there, the 2 unit course will blend well with the main class. It's still going to be a pretty good load, but it is doable.

Also the instructors at SCC do generally care about their students and they want their students to succeed. They expect a lot and and this expectation (and the students meeting this) help keep the general reputation of having well-prepared students present in the minds of the local hospitals.

I think the entire class of mine had jobs within a year of graduation, including me, but my job took longer to get because I chose a more difficult specialty to start in... the ED.

If you didn't get or didn't choose SCC, don't feel bad. ARC and Sac State are good programs and they do turn out very good graduates, and you will get a very good education from any of the local Sacramento programs.

IDK if anyone still looks at this, but I went ahead and applied for the LVN program at Carrington very quickly after getting my 3 rejections this semester. That put me at 12. 12 rejections to RN programs. I’m going the LVN then LVN to RN route, maybe even do my master’s one day! Sending hope for everyone here that you get in the next cycle if you didn’t this time. Stay determined and do what you gotta do to get to where you want to be!
