Scared to start my first job

Nurses New Nurse

I will start working on the Observation Unit and will automatically placed in the New Grad Residency program at the hospital. My start date is supposed to be late June, but I still need to take nursing boards. I am so scared, and feel as though I could have learned so much more during my preceptorship senior year. My time management skills are sub par but I try so hard to keep up with everything. Please help!

Hopefully you will have an excellent, supportive orientation to teach you the basics. Time management is a biggie, it will come with time :) Observation units are great places to learn time management, since there are frequent admissions and discharges and the occasional patient who goes south and quickly. Keep your eyes and ears open, ask questions, and chuck the attitude (if you have a bad one) and you will do great. Focus now on passing the NCLEX and let your worries over the job sit on the side for now. You are a new grad and no one expects you to know everything.
