SBVC Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hello,

I was wondering who else is also applying for SBVC for falll 2021. I'm super nervous because I am only applying with 35 points so we shall see!

I know! It’s exciting and scary at the same time

Is the orientation still going? I just got kicked off and waiting for the host to met me in.

It just ended. Sorry my phone died. Did you get back on?

Does anyone else feel overwhelmed after the orientation?

Yes!! And still confused about the lvn-RN information….

From my understanding the LVN to RN you still have to get everything done like the ADN students prior to August 2nd and be prepared to go full on with clinical on August 23. You'll get to challenge to either semester one or two, meaning once the seven weeks are over you'll have the semester off and come in Spring 2022 with the semester you challenged into. It does seem pointless when this could of technically be completed during Summer and be a prerequisite during regular semester like offered at other schools like Chaffey and RCC prior to putting the bridge application, and while taking the transition in those schools it doesn't guarantee a spot in the program and it doesn't transfer. So look at the bright side you're in the program regardless just have to do the process of the transition and if you don't do good in the transition class to challenge to second semester at least you'll start in semester one in Spring 2022. I wish SBVC still did the challenge to third semester to keep things going faster and not seem like a wasted semester. Hope that helps NurseJessie. Maybe it can make a suggestion for when they induct workshops because it was never mentioned that this is the process, all they said was you can apply and about 6-10 students are accepted in the bridge and have to challenge into either semester one or two but never mention the semester where all you take is a transition course and have to wait a semester. Either way you want to look at it, it's still a two year program and you were accepted. At the end of the day it beats private cost hands down and the end result you'll still be an RN.

Yes! That’s exactly how I’m thinking of it. I’m great full to be accepted. Agree with the cost difference as I was willing to spend 75,000 for an associates RN degree. I just wish the challenge was to start in semester 3 I’ve already completed the classes to both semester 1 & 2 with A’s. Just seems like a waste of time and money. But I’m excited as you’ve mentioned in the end I will be an RN. They should explain it better before applying though. Aren’t you doing the bridge also?

Yes I'm doing the bridge program too. I don't know what you mean by you have taken both semesters with A's, I'm assuming the prerequisites or the LVN program? However colleges can't evaluate the semesters accordingly when they were done privately and even those with with community colleges since each school has a different curriculum. For example each college calls their semester different in topics in the RN program, I know its weird since the end result you get the same degree and license. For me private was not the way I wanted to go, those private schools are ridiculous ranging from 80,000-150,000 and that's just added cost if you did the LVN privately ranging from 30,000-45,000. I worked very hard to obtain as many A's as possible because community college was the route I wanted to go if not CSU. SBVC is a great nursing program and have worked with quite a few alumnae so I'm grateful too. Can't wait to start this next chapter.

Correct the LVN program. Anyways it is what it is and I will continue to push forward. I’m sure everyone’s goal is to get A’s. My first choice of course was community college as like you said those private schools are highway robbery but I was becoming desperate and started to consider private schools. At the end of the day I’m excited to begin and meet our cohort. ?

Anybody else having trouble with uploading to castle branch?

No it has been really easy. Do you know where we get the code of conduct? Also on the TB part it looks like we could get either the 2 step or the blood test. Does it matter which one we do since the SBVC packet says other wise? It’s a little confusing. I’m going to do the blood test.

I’m gonna do the blood test. I was able to upload to castle branch with putting it as an attachment and not a camera upload. I was wondering the same thing in the code of conduct.
