Hey everyone,
I'll be starting this quarter (two weeks, can't wait!!) to get my pre-reqs done for the lpn program. Unfortunately I won't even get in until NEXT fall:crying2:. But in the meantime I'll get the prereqs done and hopefully be able to get my CNA and PCT.
Has anyone gone through this program or in the program or planning to go through the program? I'm not sure if there's a waiting list so much as a finish your pre-req kind of thing. What are some of the things I should watch out for?
*I searched through all of the posts and I haven't seen anyone from Savannah post that I could see.
Any info would be great!!
ahhh, i was afraid of this...I've been on this board for a bit but I rarely see anyone in Savannah...oh well, i'll keep truckin

I started out in the Lpn program at Savannah Tech. After you finish all your pre reqs you can apply to the program. I have been told by the advisors you need a minimum of a 3.0 gpa but the higher the better chance you have of getting in.
Hey,
thanks for replying...you said u started out at the lpn program, have u finished yet? Yeah, I hope to get as many A's as possible. The class I'm really worried about is anatomy, I'm taking Seckinger.
Do you know how many ppl were trying to get in when u were?
I was told at the Liberty campus that about a 150 always started trying to get in, but by the time they had to apply the majority had changed majors and it would end up being about fifty left to apply, and I think they accept 35. Anatomy isnt hard, jsut remember to study, its all memorization.
Hmm, I think I may apply to both Liberty and Savannah just to be on the safe-side. Well I'm in Anatomy (the lower one...i know i know), med term (online), psych (online) and english (online)...So far so good! And you're right, it is all about memorization. Our first test (3 chapters) is on Monday, we'll see how it goes. Thank you so much for your information!!!
There should be a disc that comes with each of those books, check them out they have a ton of games on them to help you study too.

Mrs. Seckinger appears very cut throat but after taking a class with her and getting past her metal exterior, I found she really cares about students and makes sure that each student has complete knowledge of the material. I enjoyed having a class with her, I am also waiting for my progression into LPN. I currently have a 3.67 and I submitted my data sheet in the fall, hopefully I will make it into the Spring progression in the first shot. Crossing my fingers!! And good luck to you!

I know that last summer I was taking a class and the teacher mentioned that the lowest GPA admitted in the Spring 2010 classes was a 3.83, for the LPN program. Does anyone know what the Fall 2010 lowest GPA admitted into the program was? I was taking college level classes prior to changing my major to LPN right now I have a 3.69, but I don't know what it would be after doing the transition and the changes that will be made to the program. Has anyone heard what changes are upcoming for the semester system?
I am wanting to bring up my GPA and I am going to retake my English, do you have a teacher recommendation or one to stay away from? I am also going to be taking STC 100, a computer class do you know which teacher may be better than another? I appreciate any advice.
I like Mrs. Seckinger pretty well. I took her for anatomy and intro to healthcare, which i'm in now. She's pretty straight forward and her tests are no joke.
Wow 3.83? That means the majority of the people had 4.0's and a some had 3.7's...That's awfully high. I hope I can make it.
For English I took Spencer last quarter. I have no idea what's going on with her grading scheme. All semester I had a 94 A, but on all the essay stuff on the educational website (something like myitlab.com or something) I kept getting C's. So I guess that was just practice, never was really clear by her syllabus what actually counted for what. I thought I messed up the final, but I guess I didn't because I got an A on it, and an A in the class. I thought sure I had gotten a C. I took her for the online section.
For STC100, I think her last name is Moore, I believe. It's online. Everything is due on one day, Tuesdays. You do a couple of quizzes and then you do a written test which is basically the same quizzes you just took in a different order. There's other projects that you have to do some weeks. I forget about them and end up running out of time to do them. My advice is to do the majority of this stuff using the computers on campus. It's a pretty easy and informative class.
I don't know about any other teachers there.
They haven't talked much about what it actually means, as far as the semester switch. If I turn in my data sheet in March for entry to the lpn this fall, and it starts in August, will it still be one year, or will it now be a year and a half because of the semester system. I'm going to talk with Amagdolu (sp) this week when I pre-regis for next quarter and ask her about this and I'll post it.
