Has anyone used the Saunders Q & A (bright green color book). If so do you think it was helpful?
Thank you

I'm using it (actually, the CD instead of the textbook) along with Kaplan. I find that the Saunders questions are far easier than Kaplan's, and so it's good for content but Kaplan makes me think more. I really like the study mode and mini-quiz formatting, though, so I can focus on stuff I feel weaker on (and then take a Kaplan quiz to see if it sunk in!).

I also have the book, but also just using the CD...I think Saunders is really helpful in reviewing content. I'm also using Kaplan and find the questions hard as well, but good for critical thinking skills.
RNs2BRwe have you also done the question trainer??? I've done 1 and 2 and 5, and got like 60's on it...I guess thats good...??? I'm also doing the Kaplan quizzes too.
Thanks for your replies. I got that green book and did around 300 quest so far, i feel some of the quests require little more thinking than the saunders comprehensive review (blue) book.
I have been doing kaplan too, and yes the quest are def harder. I have been getting in 50s and 60s in kaplan.. i give my test in 10 days.. really nervous, trying to do as many quest possible as of now..

I am focusing my energy on Saunders and Kaplan. Like most people, I think Saunders is easier than Kaplan, but it's good for content review.I take mine July 27th. The stress is really getting to me but I am nowhere near ready!!

I've spent most of my time in the Q-Bank, taking tests in 25 and 50 question increments mostly. I've been getting around a 64% most of the time, sometimes a little higher, sometimes a little lower. I did the first Question Trainer test, and I seem to remember it was a 64, also! Hey, I'm consistent at least I plan to test from the QT in order, am going go do #2 right after posting :) I get in Saunders anywhere from 60 (low) to 90, mostly 70-80 on the 10-question quizzes, but then I'm focusing on areas I think I need more work on.
This is making me nuts, I'll admit. I can't seem to consistently get above a 65 no matter what, but I am thinking at this point that doesn't matter. By the time I test in a few weeks, I will have done thousands of questions, and I'd better be ready!
Thinking good thoughts...
Thanks RNs2BRwe! Sounds like you're definitely ready to take the NCLEX! Yeah, I'm in the same boat as well, can't seem to get at or above a 65 yet...though one time in the Q-bank i did get a 76! I've been fluctuating in questions with my lowest being the 40's and then mid to upper 50's to 60's. I tried that sample test 3 on the Q-bank which was mostly priority and got an 83 on the first try. I'm pretty good with those questions...i just can't stand the select all that apply! :angryfire I hope we both do good on the NCLEX. But to me it sounds like you're about ready. :)
Man, I hope you're right, but it sure doesn't feel that way . I just finished the Q-trainer test #2, and got 65.33% (I like that better than rounding down to 65, lol!). The stupid thing is, nearly ALL the ones I got wrong were ones I thought were the easiest ones!! Apparently, my "of course" responses were totally wrong:trout: . Yeesh.
I realized I read a couple of them wrong, too (no matter how hard I am paying attention, one or two is gonna get me that way).
But now what's freaking me is that on the Bloom's Taxonomy (where we're supposed to be doing best, right?) I got 50% on Application--isn't that gonna kill me on the nclex??
I'm all over the map on the grades in general ( I got a 73 and once an 83, but I figured that was a total fluke, lol, considering they were preceeded and followed with a 60 and a 58, respectively!).
I don't feel anywhere near ready. Especially when sometimes a question will feature a disease or a contraindication I had no clue whatsoever what it was!!

I definitely know how you feel. Well i did take the Kaplan course, and I never heard my instructor say once what we were supposed to get in terms of application and analysis section..for both i've been get like low 58- mostly 60's but once i got 100 on analysis...but I only had one question that was analysis and happened to get it right hahahahahaha. I don't feel ready either....and I'm taking the NCLEX on the 13th....~sigh~. I'm sure you'll do fine. I like how I can incorporate both Saunders and Kaplan...I find it helps a lot. At least you finally got a 65 on one! I got a 61.33 on the second one..still not bad..oh well.
Hang in there :) I think I got the part about Bloom's Taxonomy percentages or whatever from the Orientation Video on the kaplan website. Mostly I remember we're supposed to be getting 65 and over to be "ready to take the nclex" but so far I don't know anyone in our group who has actually been consistent in that. The best seem to be getting over 65 some of the time, even most of the time, but still falling short in areas. Most of us, though, are in that dreaded "you probably need to review content" area. My grade, though, seems to depend on the direction the wind is blowing .
I take the exam less than a week after you. Fingers crossed for both of us ....
