Good morning!
Stars, sorry he won't quit drinking but hope he keeps his GI appointment.
Ado, sounds like a bad situation.
Didn't post yesterday, was tired. Work got a little nuts I got a post op admission that was a foot surgery late in the shift and jumped through hoops to get him physical therapy and meds provided through our charity program ten minutes before the pharmacy closed and get him discharged but I made it happen. All the while working on two other last minute discharges that required a few phone calls.
I like our new owners not only do we have a charity program to get the uninsured medications they can't afford (this patient's blood thinner had a price tag of over $500 which amazes me), we also have an agreement with a cab service to get people without resources home. Our old for-profit hospital did not provide any of this.
I'm keeping an eye out on the storm Ian that's been expected to become a hurricane and hit us. Anything can happen and the path can change. I'm going to be looking into my hurricane stash of things to do when the power is out.
I'm part of the relief team at work, meaning I stay home during the hurricane and relieve the team stuck in the hospital. But who knows usually when the time comes it's "I'm not coming in, my kids come first and I'm not leaving them, I'm not risking my life coming in...whine whine whine" when they know all year long this is part of the job and what team they are on. I get that family comes first but you know this so don't be on the hurricane work crew if you can't make plans. Rant over.
Hi. Went for a run this morning, but it was tough. I wonder if it's the new med. Anyway, I still got 2 1/2 miles in. I also cut my run short because the local college was have a cross country meet and I didn't want to get trampled, LOL. I found a set of keys and turned them into a park groundskeeper. We tried to listen to "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me" on the radio, using my computer, but our internet continues to be very slow and the broadcast kept dropping. We need to get groceries today, and I am going to finish pruning the pear trees.
No Stars, it's probably a good thing that the doc is being very direct with your hubby. The spot on his pancreas could be very serious. I believe you have all your affairs in order?
Our financial advisor pointed out to us yesterday, that the stock market historical has 4 up years for every down year, so that makes me feel a little better. We also shifted some stocks to computer chips and and technology for alternative energy.
The weather is clear and cool, perfect for being in the garden.
Happy Saturday!
It is afternoon and the ballgame is in the 2nd inning. We lost yesterday. The Braves have one run in already, but the game has just started so I am not excited.
When I got up, both Nannie and hubby were sleeping in their recliners. It was time for Nannie's lunch so I made a sandwich for her, and hubby sort of woke up and said, "What did you get us for supper?" Uh....too early for supper.
It is in the low 70's, partly cloudy and just LOVELY outside.
I think on Monday, after her toenail cropping, I will drive us over to Walmart and get our Flu and Covid Booster (the new one) shots. Going to demand hubby get his shots. It's not the actual getting of the shot(s) that bothers him, but being as he is ten-foot-tall and bullet-proof, he doesn't think he needs anymore damn shots. When in fact, HE is the one that needs them the most!
He is still c/o pain under his (R) armpit, the rib area, and he also says he aches in the right collarbone and side of his neck. Won't wear a sling (not sure it would help), and so far has not used a cold or warm pack in the last couple of days.
Whatever will we do if he actually decided to try taking better care of himself, and had no bruises or scabs on his arms and legs, or wobbles on the stairways or falls? Yuh. I know. He's not very likely to make the effort(s) so as far as I can tell.
I looked up cirrhosis yesterday, (because the doctor had mentioned he had it) and I told him that if he felt up to it, I would read some of it to him. Pretty eye-opening.
As tired as I got a few weeks back of talking and moaning about Nannie, I am now tired of talking and c/o hubby. And, oh yes, he IS going to go to the gut- doc appt on Friday.
J22, the only thing about historical president is that there really isn't one that has a global pandemic, a European war, and record inflation recently. But even so there is reason to be hopeful, because no matter what it always bounces back. My fear is my age, but given my good health and longevity in my family I guess I can ride it out. Life has no guarantees.
Stars, good idea to get your boosters and flu shot. I'll get my flu shot at work when they get their shipment and am waiting the recommended three months post-covid for the booster which will be end of October.
We're still in the cone for what will be Hurricane Ian but it shifted every so slightly to the north of us and I hope as the days pass it continues to go north. Sorry for the people north of us, but I live in the most densely populated county in Florida with over a million of us here, over two million in the vicinity. Would be epic to get a direct hit. But it's days away and I'll start preparing in earnest Monday but what can you do?

Stars glad the doctor was good and was straight with him, hopefully he does keep that GI appointment
Ado I guess all you can do is see if this works, and hope for the best
NJ22 glad the EKG and the financial planner meeting went well
Dianah I am making progress, slower than I'd like but progressing
Quiet day at work yesterday, thankfully. And a quieter night too, J got his Omicron booster yesterday, got a fever so we didn't go out. We might go out this afternoon but probably not unless the symptoms have subsided. Not getting together with dad as he's still packing
So today will be the usual stop at the coffee shop and birdwatching. Going to stop at the farmer's market, get some jams and bring some of the empty and cleaned jam jars back to the farmer so he can reuse them. Will give one of our newer local restaurants a try too
Svengoolie has Gargoyles, a kind of dull 70s made for TV movie which I'm going to skip
Is in the 50s right now but will be in the low 70s later today. Will have to break out the jeans
