It is a breezy, sunny 53 degrees. Momo quietly growls at falling leaves! What a good guard dog! ?
Nannie is up and has started her after-breakfast nap. Yep, she got pee on her top blanket and sheet, but I only peeled them back and turned the ceiling fan on high. The pee left a smaller spot than yesterday's wet area, (an 18" in diameter stain!) which did require washing.
I did get the light turned out at 1:10 AM; getting closer! Didn't really want to stop reading, but I did anyway. Pretty much fell asleep quickly.
I have my pick of chores today. Not sure which one I'll tackle. The trash barrel was not picked up yesterday; guess they were off for their holiday time. Wish we had a written schedule to follow for their holidays. The city has one, but we are collected by a separate company, and they are a law unto themselves. In Asheville the ONLY day they don't collect is on Christmas Day, so no thinking or deciding whether to put out the barrels are required there! Maybe (if I remember to) I will call them on Monday and ASK for a holiday schedule, as Christmas is coming up, and New Year's Day also.
Going to go upstairs now that the nappers are doing their thing. Might get SOMETHING taken care of or knocked out, ya never know! (fingers crossed!)
It's another sunny, cool day. It was quite frosty this morning. I had a nice jog in the park. I was going to stop at the grocery store to get some garbage bags, so I took my debit card with me. And then I proceeded to drop the card during my jog. I was able to think about when I took my phone out (same pocket as card) and retrace my steps. I found it! I have been so bad at losing the darn thing. Phew. The dogs saw 3 deer in the back yard this morning and righteously told them to move along. They strolled over to the neighbors' in a leisurely way, flicking their tails in distain.
dh and youngest ds survived their shopping at the big mall yesterday, They said the most challenging was the parking. I enjoyed my time working on a jigsaw puzzle and binging on the new season of Fargo. And I caught an interview with an author I like on TV.
Joe, I can take cold, as long as I'm dressed warm, but once I'm cold, that's it, game over. And I hate wind! Enjoy your lunch!
Tweety, that is sad about your patient. We have had record numbers of overdoses around here, usually related to fentanyl. It's just ghastly. But then I read online where people can't get adequate prescribed opiates for post-op or chronic pain. Stupid.
Stars, our trash pickup company seems to be under new management and we've had issues, lately. We have had weekly pickup for years, but they suddenly decided we only every other week, and will need to pay extra for weekly. Nope.
I need to get out and pick up dog waste, and a little garden cleanup. I need to get out before the big UW vs WSU game (nicknamed the Apple Cup) starts and I get drawn in. And I need to get away from that last piece of cherry pie...
Belated happy birthday, Joe.
Sorry I've been absent. I've been in an absolutely avoidant state of mind. It happens sometimes.
Drove to San Antonio Tuesday after a meeting at the hospital. Twin B went with me which eased Hubs' mind a little about me driving. Sister's surgery went well and we all went out to a Jim's restaurant (similar to Denny's?) for Thanksgiving dinner. Twin B and I drove home after that, getting home Thursday around midnight. He had to work 3-11 yesterday.
But then heard fromnephew late last night that sister had a temp of 101.7 and they were headed to the ER. She has been admitted and tested positive for C. diff. Trying to decide if I should head back down there. I think I could manage it with work.
I have the "fiixin's" for a pumpkin pie and think I'll make it. Haven't had any yet this year. Need to buy groceries. Twin B and I stopped at an HEB after sisters surgery Wednesday to pick up some bland foods for her. It was really crowded and busy.
The dogs just came in and are damp from the wet weather. It's about 50° but supposed to get down to 26. The precipitation should stop though. If we get any snow, it should be a tiny amount.
Stars, you're being really good about setting aside the reading earlier. It is hard to do.
I listened to an audio book on the drive, then finished it last night. I really prefer to read ... find myself realizing that I missed something and it isn't always easy to go back and figure out what. Especially when driving! But then I can't read while driving so.... It was a good way to pass the time.

NJ22 I tend to struggle with gift ideas too
Stars I hope you can find someone reputable to appraise those pipes
Tweety that is a sad story
Yesterday was a bit of a bust. Went to the train station to head downtown to the Christmas market but realized it was too cold and windy. And would likely be too crowded too, given the number of people at the station.
Afterwards I realized that I wasn't really interested in going to the Christmas market again, I was just trying to keep busy as usual, rather than relaxing. So instead I spent time ordering some of the Christmas gifts online, and planned to watch a movie
However my streaming player broke. So I had to brave the Black Friday crowds to get a replacement and the adapter for my old school TV. Thankfully got that done without too much trouble
Today going to meet dad for my delayed birthday lunch. Will give the Arboretum a try, will make sure it dress as warmly as possible. My body no longer seems to adapt to cold as well as it used to
Svengoolie has House on Haunted Hill with Vincent Price, which I've watched before and only thought was so-so. Will likely watch some more of Outlander or The Crown instead
Another cold day in the upper 30s, wind and snow should hold off until tomorrow
