G'day.
Sometimes I wish I was a bit more assertive, because I let things slide when I should speak up. But I also am very understanding, patient and good to service people.
I'm home now. Left NC at 3:30 and it took 11 hours which is normal. Lots of traffic once I got closer to home. I wanted to leave at 5AM but once I was up I couldn't get back to sleep so just left.
Should sleep good tonight. Two more days off.
Joe, hope you have a good day off.
Glad you're home safe, Tweety.
Hope it's a good day of lots of walking, Joe.
Thunderstorms started a few minutes ago. I spent the afternoon working at a food pantry at the United Methodist church in a nearby town. At choir practice Wednesday there was a plea for volunteers so I said I'd do it. It was well organized and smooth. They do it once a month. I will consider helping more often.
"Anutha Sattiiday night and I ain't got nobody, I got no money 'cause the bills got paid......" (apologies to Cat Stevens)
89 degrees and very windy. The weatherman tonight said the humidity "is so thick you can wear it." I never heard that one before, but it is TRUE! If it wasn't for the wind, a fella could suffocate!
When I picked up Nannie yesterday, they handed me a double-bagged bundle of her soiled clothes. They had someone else's spare clothes on her because 'we' didn't bring another extra set of clothes to leave there last time she had an accident. SiL says that BiL had brought a spare set of clothes last time he took her over there in the AM. Maybe yes, maybe no. Anyway, now, instead of Nannie being constipated all the time, she has BM's every day....still huge ones, but they don't have to be dug out of her! But maybe the accidents' culprit was too many helpings of watermelon and blueberries. (Just more laundry. meh.)
I've been here 9 years now, and Nannie JUST today noticed that I have lost weight, w00t? Only 45 lbs over the past 9 years. Not amazing unless you haven't seen me for a l-o-n-g while, but there ya go, Nannie doesn't 'see' me most of the time. Don't care, don't expect anything from her, as she continues to (too) slowly slide away from the real world.
Yesterday evening, for about 25 contiguous minutes, she was explaining something to me EXTENSIVELY and I did not even really know WHAT it was that launched her into it all, because there were so many things involved. All I could do was nod my head and quietly pray she would run down and stop. What she was explaining had something to do with: the yard, ALL the 'people' out there (but, like, um, there were no people out there,) and the drapes, and, of course, her shoes (!!!) and her outfit..... AND she also somehow thought that she was on these HGTV shows, being consulted about the decorating, and which colors they should use, etc. So I had to hear about all of that. WHEW! Mein Gott, it was excruciating.
Nannie's grand-niece wanted to come visit her this weekend, (with her THREE young children!), but I THINK SiL put her off, and then when she does come, SiL will take Nannie over to her house for the visit (to be easier on me, she said, and I DO appreciate that!) I don't know the great-niece and I don't think having three young (as in little) kids around, who she doesn't even know, would be much fun for Nannie. I'm not sure she would even know that the grand-niece was the daughter of her niece (who committed suicide YEARS ago). Anyway, if I don't have to have anything to do with any of that, it would suit me to a "T".
One hour until Nannie's bedtime. She fell asleep right after supper last night and got really agitated with me for trying to wake her up: "I AM awake." ---your eyes are still shut -----"I can't open them." -yes you can---- (I 'helped' her to lift her lids) ---you can't walk to your bathroom with your eyes closed---- "I can walk, I do it all the time!" ----C'mon, wake up , I have to get you up so you can go to bed.-----"I'm ALREADY in bed!" and it just devolved from there. NOW, she is asleep again (it is after supper) and talking a mile a minute in her sleep; but at least I don't have to pretend to listen to her!
There! Done and done! She's in bed, and now Momo and I are ready to git upstairs to our bed.
Gouda Knight!
