Morning Joe and all who follow! I'd love to trade weather with you! We were at 82 degrees... at 2am. I can't even see out my windows because of the condensation on the outside. Nothing on the agenda today, so I'll probably spend a good chunk of the day with the Kindle, lost in a fictional world.
Well, it is going to be 92 degrees today with a 'feels-like' of 102, and 65% humidity. Last night we were supposed to have a thunderstorm, and around midnight there was thunder....and I struggled to find an apt description of it. I finally decided it was "disinterested" thunder. A lot of lengthy rolls of thunder, but kind of distant. Around 2 AM the lightning got really, really bright white and sharp. THEN the thunder REALLY started up big.....It actually sounded like a huge dump-truck backed up and slowly dumped its entire contents full of rocks on the roof, close up, really loud, and in slow-motion, because each 'dump' was long and vigorous. That happened a number of times, and then it sounded like the rocks were hitting the roof and falling down the side of the house like a waterfall of rocks. I have never heard it like that before; it was kinda weird. After about half an hour of that, it just stopped and went away.
My "sleep" was like hovering above sleep, but not IN it. Woke up repeatedly. At 6:30 AM I went down to the kitchen and had a bowl of multi-grain Cheerios. After that I DID manage to fall asleep. Woke up at 11:30, groaning that I only slept 4-5 hours. But, as it was getting close to noontime, I made myself get up, made a strong cup of coffee and fed Momo her breakfast. Now I am watching the clock and wondering how long I can get away with not getting Nannie up yet.
After examining Nannie's collection of Angel figurines, I discovered there was nothing worth anything. The larger figurines were 8 to 10 inches tall, a 'made in china' sticker on the bottoms of each, and on the smaller ones there was a tag on the bottom that read "Dollar Store --- $2.00" The rest of the angels were homemade craftsy things with lace and netting and a dubious variety of other materials.... not very classy, but I reckon they were either gifts or something she looked at and thought were pretty.
I'd like it if 'we' didn't hear from BiL or SiL today, but I'm not sure I could be so lucky. I'd like to finish off the formal living-room by collapsing many of the cardboard boxes I thought we'd need to pack and store stuff. But too many boxes are piled up, and since SiL has a part-time job at the ABC store, sturdy boxes should not be difficult to come by. I also want to 'collate' (not the right word, but I still like it) piles of things to sort for disposal or redistribution. Need to have hubby's laptop and phone erased completely so I can donate them somewhere.
Then, after that, I can finish ditching some of the junk stored in the main bedroom, and strip the bed. I'll need help to flip the mattress, and I don't plan on making up the bed until the mattress has had sufficient time under the ceiling fan set on high, to air it out. We still have the single-bed frame and a double-bed frame not in use, or to be in use....I'd like to give them to someone who can use them, but I think I've told y'all before that although several people have enthusiastically said they'd be happy to take them, NO ONE has ever followed through and actually come to either look at them or haul them off. Salvation Army ('Salivation Ar-May', as we call it) would come to pick them up if I called for them to do so, and by midweek next week, I may just make that call.
Okay, I've put it off for too long, so it is time to go get Nannie up. *sigh*
Did get the main bedroom's queen-sized bed completely emptied of junk and stripped of all the bedding! Will do the laundry from it at another time. Did get the multiple cardboard boxes collapsed, and bagged to put outside. I don't think recycling is supposed to contain wet cardboard boxes, and it often rains in the evening or night-time, hence the large plastic bag. AND, tuh-dah-dah-DAAAAAHHHH------
------ DID NOT hear a peep out of BiL or SiL! Plus, Nannie has snored away the entire afternoon.
Almost a perfect day! 😊😉
It's 81 here, feels like 82, so not bad. I smile when the forecast says heat advisory, when I know its much hotter in most of the rest of the country. I think it was 124 in Palm Springs, CA!
My knees were quite achy last night. They feel better today, although a little puffy. I tried to jog, only did a mile. I've weeded the green beans, broccoli, and cauliflower. I collected the neighbors' chickens' eggs, and gave myself a good dousing trying to refill their water container. I'm sure the top must unscrew, but my weak hands can't undo it. I ended up holding the hose nozzle over the little hole that allows water into the basin on the bottom, and got sprayed for my efforts. I filled it about 1/3, and the chickens seemed satisfied. I will be glad when the neighbors return.
I tried to nap, but I seem to have acquired some insect stings that are itchy! Probably from sitting in the garden.
Stars, I've told my kids if they want a certain thing, they have two weeks to get it, and then it's gone, and they are okay with that. Perhaps BiL could send some sort of message like that to the family to keep you from being the bad guy.
I have a collection of Precious Moments figurines that have not appreciated much in the time that I've had them. They are mainly nurses. I wish I knew someone who would appreciate them and I would gift them. Selling them doesn't seem like its worth the effort.

Work was quieter yesterday, started early but took my usual lunch and even got some cornbread baked during lunch. Rest of the day was quiet, stopped at the pet store and grocery store after work
Was strangely tired this morning, went and laid down a bit and feel more awake. Odd that I was also having some unfocused anxiety, you'd think that would have made me more awake
Planning to do bird watching this morning. Then my cousin is having people over this afternoon. Other than that not much else going on
Going to be fairly cool today, in the upper 70s
