Dianah that sounds like an interesting pie

Stars glad they got the prescription sorted out

NJ22 glad the appointment went well

Tweety glad that work was OK

Ado glad the shift has been easy

Was feeling better yesterday.  Definitely need to balance things better, so perhaps this was a needed wake up call and time to reflect

Work was pretty good yesterday.  Exercised after work,  otherwise it was fairly quiet

Today going to do the usual bird watching, a bit earlier than usual.  Might stop at the farmer's market for some jam, then it's bake like crazy, 6 dozen cookies of 3 different types.  Thankfully the dough was already prepared and frozen, so it shouldn't take long.  Not sure how many vestry members will show up for the barbecue but I want to be ready

After that will have my regular lunch with dad and then get my hair cut.  Svengoolie has The Ghost and Mr. Chicken, which is apparently a fan favorite

Should be nice today,  in the upper 70s, no rain expected

Speaking of rats there was a rat in my dining room yesterday.  I wanted to chase it out the door with my broom and is slumped over.  Poor thing seemed to be sick or dying.  I was able to pick it up and put it outside.  I looked a few hours later and it was gone.  Hopefully will recover but stay away from me.  I bet it came in through the doggie door.

Speaking of weight, my weight seems to be steady.  Two pounds lower today but it fluctuates up and down.  But about 7 to 10 pounds heavier than my low of 2020 when I think in hindsight I might have been too thin.  A few extra pounds as I age probably isn't all that bad.

Speaking of carbs, I'm one of the lucky ones that can eat a carbohydrate rich diet and lose weight.  Best friend says he gains weight from carbs.

It's a shame that people have to make retirement decisions around their health and insurance.  We had a coworker in his 70's that said he needed to work because he needed the insurance for his medications.  Eventually he did retire so I guess it worked out.

Stars, I've kept it to myself but your husband getting permission from his doctor to continue to drink and wean himself is a recipe for failure.   He needs a medically supervised inpatient detox and needs to stop drinking altogether.  I do hope I'm wrong.  But there's not much you personally can do about that.

I'd say you are entirely correct. Telling someone to wean down their drinking is still 'permission' to drink. He couldn't just place 5 bottles on the bureau and stretch out their consumption over the course of the day, and call it done.

So many times he goes out to the Ford, and I know he's imbibing out there. Especially since, on the way from the car to the house, he stops at the recycling bin and tosses something into it. Of course it is one of those little bottles. I can't understand why he thinks I don't notice stuff like that. I find the little caps and occasionally a little empty bottle, and don't say anything, I just set it out where he will see it. "Where'd you find this?" I told him not to leave an empty bottle on the floor of my car; if one of us were to get stopped by the police....there's your 'open bottle' that is illegal and will bring you a breathalyzer test, at least. Tsk. Also, he walks oh-so-carefully in order to avoid staggering, but I almost hold my breath when he does the stairs.

I'm supposing that he may have refused the idea of an in-patient detox place, using taking care of Nannie as why it would be impossible for him to do so.

....."And so it goes...."
