Is there no thread for this yet?!
I am in the process of completing my application for the SAC ADN program to start in Fall 2016!
Do you guys know what the "safe zone" for the # of points to get accepted is?
If you don't mind, post your points total below so we can get an idea of this pool's stats :)
I got accepted! What a relief.Anyone else? What program do you hope to be put in? The traditional or ECP?
I think it's just based on preference, and possible work schedule. If you prefer going to school only on the weekends, then you have the week days open for work, child care, other classes or whatever. Not many schools offer that, so it's cool sac does give the option for ECP.
For me, GWC is my home school. I've done everything there, I know how to use the website, I'm comfortable. As far as the program goes, GWC has had higher nclex passing rates for the past 3 years. Between 5-15% better than SAC. GWC is newer, and they have more up to date equipment.
Since SAC is changing their program layout next year, that might help boost those scores. It seems it will be less units at a time and maybe less rigorous.
As long as you work hard, and don't get lazy, both schools have a great program with amazing teachers and resources. Can't go wrong with either one.
yes. i was asking you. thank you, I plan to apply fall of 2017. I am still taking pre-requisites.
some questions for anyone who can answer. i would appreciate.
(1) I was wondering whether anyone who took pharmaceutical course. I heard that it is so difficult that it's better not to take it before applying (bc it might damage my overall GPA). anyone has any advice on that?
has anyone taken it during summer? I plan to take it for summer of 2017.
(2) would they add points for taking math 219 even though they only list math 080 or 081? in the handout they gave out during info session had only math 80 and 81.
(3) if I volunteered or worked at a very small doctor's office where there is no HR, do i get a proof of volunteering from the doctor directly?
(4) how could i prove that I can fluently speak 2nd language? English is not my primary language and I speak another language fluently.
but how do i prove that? the only way is to get a letter from a professor at a university who teaches that language?
(5) I am currently attending SAC and santiago canyon and was wondering which History course you would recommend for me to take?
online vs in class
American history unto 1865 vs American history since 1865 vs Mexican American history in US
any professor who you had a good experience with at SAC or santiago canyon?
(6) for the nursing concept course, was it not to hard to take during intersession? I plan to take it this winter 2016. Should i take it during spring or fall semester?
(7) has anyone taken Math 219(stat) at sac or santiago canyon? is there a professor who gives a lot of extra credit points? I prefer someone who gives out a lot of extra credit points.
(8) here is my plan for now, any advice?
Summer 2016: Math 219
Fall 2016: Microbio at SAC
Winter 2017: Nursing concept at SAC
Spring 2017: History at SAC
Summer 2017: Pharmaceutical course for nursing at SAC (not sure whether I should take it before applying or not...)
I have two young children so I can't take many courses at a time.
I would really appreciate if any of you can help me deciding. thank you! :)

That is a lot of questions! Im just like you.
1. The whole program is changing! You should go into the office and meet with someone if you can. The last time they will offer Pharm outside of the program is this Summer. or Fall 16. Nursing Concepts too.
2. No, I took Stats and it did not count. Bummer.
3. The doc needs to write a letter on company letterhead describing your duties which should include direct patient care and hours worked.
4. I'm not sure, but just call and they will lay it out for you.
5. I chose the time period most interesting to me and teacher recommendations.
6. Take Nursing concepts for points if you can. It is easy. 1.5 units. But again, they are changing the lineup.
7. I am awful at math. I took Stats with Sakamoto over Intercession. He lets you use a cheat sheet on every test. Life saver. Great professor! I also used the MASH lab a few times a week.
8. I have a young son too, it took me a long time to get here. I feel you. But go to the website and check out all SAC's course changes and meet with the nursing student counselor to make an Ed Plan. Also, sciences expire so I took them last.
Good Luck!
