San jacinto college adn fall 2010

Hi everyone. Im wondering if any of you are planning on applying to San Jac ADN program or are in the program? Also, when applying will you be using option A, B or both? Lets talk about it here. :redbeathe

To PharmLuv:

Are these CPR classes called as BLS? Is that all we need to do? Or does it include First Aid and AED classes to. Might sound silly to you but here it goes. Pour your knowledge please..thankyou for all other informations. You are giving us good insights.

Thanks for the info, again.

I have done all of the prereqs and co reqs from tech. report writing to my P.E. because I really want to be able to get high marks in the nursing program. Right now I'm trying to look for cheaper CPR certification options.

PharmLuv- I was reading a post in the general forum about students having procedures done on each other like a bed bath, and having to be nude or in a bra/shorts for procedures with classmates. Do they do this at San Jac? Just curious about how "invasive" practicing on classmates gets.

(here's a link to the original thread talking about it if anyone's interested- Nudity? - Nursing for Nurses )

LOL...absolutely not. We do not get naked at all. When you do your bed baths and stuff like that you do it on a manequin. They do not do anything with the reproductive anatomy on students at all...even with your head to toe assessments you will learn about the reporductive anatomy but you wont actually perform it...like breast exam ect.

You only need your BLS nothing else.

@PharmLuv - thanks for the info.

Also, did any of you guys get sick after the immunizations? Just wondering!!

Thanks

Thanks for clearing that up, Pharmluv!!

I am pretty up to date on my immunizations, I think I mostly just need titers. I've gotten 3 HBV shots, the last one being in 2002. Anyone know how long they're good for?

I'm pretty sure they don't go bad as long as you still have immunity. Did anyone notice we have to have hep A? I don't think i've ever had to get that one!

Thanks Pharm Luv for the info!

I didn't feel sick after my immunizations, although I only had to get Hep B and tetorifice, and had titers drawn for MMR and Varicella. I also had the tb-skin test as well. I did feel a little sore from the tetorifice, but otherwise it was alright. I felt a bit light headed when the lab tech was fishing for my vein in my right arm and had to draw from my left.

Anyway, still haven't gotten a confirmation email...

i checked my transcripts were requested on 16 so i guess i should receive an e mail by next week but nothing yet

To PharmLuv:

When you took the pharmacology class..did it have 2 divisions like pharmacology nursing and pharmacology Math and as 2 books? Which one was the most toughest? And what was the passing grade?

Thanx

i don't think there are 2 books for pharm just the book and the workbook that go with it. There is a math for meds book, but that is for the first semester.

The math for meds is the book you will use the 1st semester and will have due every test day and have math questions over the material on the theory test. The pharmacology book is clinical drug therapy and comes with a workbook but I was in hybrid so I did not use that. They come together as a set and if you are in the regular class then you will have to turn it in. The passing grade for any class in the nursing program is a 70....if you have a 69.9 you fail they do not round up at all. Each semester to move on you will have to take a math test and then after med surg 2 you will have to take a math test and pharm test to move on. Worry about that stuff later though it will drive you crazy to think about it now.
