Hi everyone. Im wondering if any of you are planning on applying to San Jac ADN program or are in the program? Also, when applying will you be using option A, B or both? Lets talk about it here. :redbeathe
Its funny to read these posts and see how everyone is talking about the same exact stuff I was a year ago. I wouldn't recommend wasting your money on buying any NCLEX review books yet, you will not know how to answer any of those questions until you are well into your second semester....med surg is the majority of the program and you don't get that info until 2nd semester mostly 2nd 8 weeks. Besides once you realize how demanding the program is, especially 1st semester when you have the extra class on health assessment and trying to get used to clinical you will not have time to worry about NCLEX review books or any extra books you will just be trying to make it. I'm not trying to scare anyone by no means, people did that to us, some were over exaggerating some were just being blunt. If you focus and study and time management you should do fine.
I know someone mentioned clincals- yea anywhere that we have a contract with in houston is fair game, all the way from East Texas Medical to UTMB so it does not go by your address at all. And it can be any day of the week as long as it doesn't conflict with classes, so MON-SUN are fair game, well the days theres no class. The times are getting worse too, this semester for PEDI OB we have some people doing a 1230pm until 1130 pm on saturdays at the medical center. O yea and you sign a contract now saying you can't argue ur clincial whether it be work, kids or religion reasons....u get what ya get. Hope this helps, and again I'm not trying to scare you im just being real.
Any questions just ask....its finals week in critical care so it might take awhile to respond.
I got the Cherokee Rocker in Robin Amazon.com: Cherokees Robin SR Shoe: Shoes
There's a store in the med center called Scrubs and Beyond where I went to try on several different nursing shoes. They have Danskos, Sketchers, Nursemates, and others. I think I tried on every shoe I could find in my size. These were the most comfortable for me.
PharmLUV- Will having an older edition of some of the books be a big problem? Like the Publication Manual for the APA?
And just to let everyone know they've updated the book list and revised the schedule on blackboard.
I just bought those too! I bought them in Baytown at a place called Hibbett Sports for $65. They were on sale from $92.

That's awesome!!! I went to every shoe store in Baybrook and they were out of my size...I was in luck that amazon had them. I got them in yesterday and they are perfect! Whooohoooo!!
Finally turned in my paperwork today, and purchased some of the books that I couldn't find off of Amazon. I should have brought a roller, it would have made it easier to manage the 100+ heat index while trekking across campus.
I also got a pair of Skechers from Academy yesterday for around $40.
