I am applying for a position at S.F DPH working in the jails. I just spoke with the nurse manage,r and he was so helpful. Anybody work in the jails and have anything negative, or positive to say about working in the jails? I will be relocating to the Bay area from Massachusetts.I'm just waiting for a job offer and my license from CA. Have a good day.

Is there anybody out there who works for the jails in S.F.?

Hi there,

I don't have direct experience working in jails but I do work at a prison and have several coworkers who work part time/per diem in the jails. Most work in Marin County. Another coworker has a friend who works in SF county jail and likes it. I have also been told that the San Mateo County jail is a stellar place to work. It is just south of San Francisco.

Thanks for the info.

Is San Mateo close enough to S.F. so I could live in S.F. and commute to work? I am curious what prison you work in. I would like to work at San Quentin but don't think they're hiring right now. Have a good day.

Does anyone know if any of the jails in the Bay Area use registry nurses extensively? If yes, which registries send out there the most?

Thanks.
