I was wondering if i could get opinons form SD locals about the best places to live in SD (anywhere w/in a 30 min radius). Somewhere where the schools are good & where houses are bit more affordable (for San Diego's standards that is). My husband & I plan on buying a condo but my best friends are moving w/ us & they want to buy a house. They don't know where to start looking. Thanks

Here are a couple web sites you might find helpful in your search: www.signonsandiego.com and also www.realtor.com. Best wishes. RG

The best schools are in the most unaffordable areas: Carmel Valley, Del Mar, Scripps Ranch, La Jolla, Coronado, University City, Rancho Santa Fe, Carlsbad, Solana Beach. Our schools are ranked with and Academic Perfomance Index (API) on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the best. The only schools in San Diego with a 10 API are in the most expensive zip codes. However, the schools in CA are not great, anyway. We are ranked 46th in the US.
My dh and I are native San Diegans. We are moving out of state because of the high real estate prices and poor school performance. You wanna buy our house

Thanks! Actually, quite a few of those area's schools are listed by newsweek as top schools in america. STill, like you said it's super expensive to live there. We still have some time to check everything out.
