i'm considering going there.

what is their reputation? do their grads get jobs as easily as anyone else?

btw, i know their credits don't transfer. pls dont bring it up, it's not an issue for me.

Thank you so much! It helps a ton :) I was trying to get a more straight answer from the guy, but he just said M-F from 8-530. How do you like the program?

I am consindering the evening program for LVN, then I will transfer to the RN program. The LVN program is M-Th 5:30pm-10:30pm and clinicals on Sat or Sun. They have a contract with Sharp, but I am not certain of others. I know that the RN program is full time during the day.

I am currently enrolled in semester 2 at Kaplan College San Diego. Honestly, I am more impressed with the facility and the instructors than I was at home. I had been on a waiting list back in Arizona for a year and a half while working as a CNA in a tele unit. Kaplan accepted all of my pre-req's from my community college back in Arizona and I was put directly into second semester. The instructors really know their stuff and its really a fast paced program. I haven't heard anything about Kaplan grad's not being looked at the same as grads from another school, I highly doubt that is true. I'm really excited to start clinicals at the end of this semester! The pace and the amount of work can seem a little bit overwhelming at first, but do what your instructors say and find a good study group and work hard to find balance in your life. I would highly reccomend the program and I am so thankful and I feel so blessed to have this opportunity! Good luck to all of you :) :redpinkhe

Hi Onelove,

Thank you so much for your feed back! I am in the process now. Done with wonderlic and Hesi, now...just hope that our VA benefits hit before school starts in January.

You mentioned that you went in second semester? very cool! Did you go in to the LVN or RN program?

See you in passing :D

kmillersocal,

good luck to you! the school is really great at helping out with getting financial aid too, they have some great resources. i am in the RN program. you took the hesi, i assume you're going for LVN? hopefully we'll be classmates soon!

Yes...only going LVN since it is part time and then I will jump in the last two semesters of the RN program once I complete my NCLEX PN. I wish they had a part time RN, but since they do not, this is the route I must take. How was the TEAS test for you? I am thinking of taking it soon to get it out of the way.

yeah, the RN program is really intense! i had no idea i'd be studying this much haha! the TEAS was a little tough. i went to Barnes and Nobel and got a teas practice test book that really really helped! you need an 81 to be considered for admission to kaplan, but they prefer a higher score. i studied for a few days and took it, got an 81.1 and was pretty crushed, studied again for a week and went back to get an 84.6! its over really general stuff, like high school stuff. if you decide to take it, good luck! they offer it at kaplan every other saturday i think, or every day of the week at SDSU. Hope this helps!

Hi onelove,

You have been extremely helpful! Thank you so much!

Will get some study material before I take the TEAS for sure!

Have a wonderful day!

Kim

How's everybody doing? I'm doing good. I just started at Kaplan this past september. I had all my pre-requisites finished so the only classes that I am taking is fudies 101 and nursing 100. So far it has been great. Classes are about 16 weeks in length. The program is accelerated so there is going to be a lot of reading. The program is what you put into to it. If you work hard and study hard you will get great results. The teachers have been great. Very knowledgable. The campus is set up to cater around the students. They make it a lot easier for you at these stressful times. Never be afraid to ask for help. Everyone is there to make your education a great experience. Plan and organize your life around school and you will do great. Everybody has a great chance of doing well. Remember to utilize everything around you. All your hard work and dedication will pay off at the end when you get license. Good luck to everyone pursuing a career in nursing!

Hey JasonRR!

Thanks for info. So glad that you are enjoying your classes with Kaplan.

Have a great day!
