I can't give any insight into the nursing programs of the two schools. But, as for personal experience, I did attend the main campus of Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, TX, back in the early 1980's. At that time they didn't have a nursing program and that is the reason I transferred to UT El Paso. Anyway, I loved Wayland.

Hopefully, someone can offer more helpful advice/insight than I can.

I earned the BSOE at San Antonio, Wayland Baptist University in 2003. In 2006 they began the RN program which I quickly signed up for. I knocked out Microbiology and A&P and several literature and foreign language classes. The BSOE had only been good for substitute teaching, however, the RN should have given me greater opportunities. I ended up not passing their Chem class (I also tried San Antonio College chemistry and got a D). I was taken aback by all this but wound up going to Galen's LVN program. That is what I should have done in the first place, but I didnt find out about Galen until I was very far into the Wayland Cirriculum! Wayland wont accept a D in any class, BTW.

are you already going to Galen in San Antonio? I just took my pax test saturday and have to wait 7-10 days to see the results. If i pass i will be going to the day program in January 31st. If you are currently going, theres some things i would like to ask you.

You are more than welcome to ask about the program! I almost went into the Jan 31 program LVN. The reason I almost missed Oct 28 was because I arrived late to my financial aid appointment. You can reach me at [email protected]

Thank you very much, I sent you an email. im so glad i found someone that is going to Galen in San Antonio. :)

I don't know anything about Wayland Baptist but I went to Galen for my LVN, and then for the LVN-RN Bridge program. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have, I'll do my best to answer!

I go to Galen in San Antonio. I'm in my 2nd quarter of the evening LVN. I have 5 kids and daycare would cost too much for me to do the day program. If you have any questions you can message me. So far I really like it. My friend went to wayland and just received her RN about a month ago. She liked it but they did mess up her paperwork so she couldn't take her boards in August and had to wait an extra 2 months for them to fix things.

I am in the process of joining Galen - San Antonio on January 31st. I tried to message some of you but its not letting me. Theres so many things i would like to know before classes start. :)

This thread is useful.

I'm looking into Galen. My research tells me that it is a good school. Nursing students and recent grad seem to agree.

I'm currently attending community college. Doing pre-reqs - and the process is taking so long. Then you're stuck in limbo waiting for a university to accept your app - because their due dates are always oddly place...

Granted, I'm not the most patient person. *laugh* Yet, I've been in school for WAYYYY TOO long.

I have a long range goals, i.e., RN --> CRNA...and I feel stuck. I feel like I just enroll in classes...to take more of them. An odd feeling.

The tuition at Galen is a bit high but - hell, I will pay it.

Time IS money. I don't have years to devote to schooling. *laugh*

I wish that Baptist still had a diploma program...
