Samuel Merritt's ABSN program-question

U.S.A. California

Is anyone currently in the ABSN program at Samuel Meritt in the Bay Area or did you just complete it? I would love to ask you some questions. I'm pre-nursing and can't decide between the normal bachelors at SM or the ABSN. I already have my bachelors but I'm worried that the ABSN will go too fast for me (my bachelors is in liberal arts), hence the wondering if I should just do their normal bachelors.

Thanks so much! I'll even mail you a Starbucks gift cert for your time if you want. :-)

P.S. Please no comments on how competitive it is to get into. I'm aware of how competitive it is, no need to remind me. :-)

I am in the ABSN program at SMU Sac. Pm me for more details.

I know you posted a long time ago, but I'm here if you still have questions. I'm in the SF ABSN program currently. Yes it's competitive, yes there are flaws, and yes it's challenging. But it's totally worth it and doable. I have no regrets. Let me know if you want to talk!

To the member who PMed me about the program - apparently I haven't posted enough on here to send messages yet! I just wrote you a reply and now it seems to have disappeared. If you want me to respond publicly, let me know. It's fine with me if it is with you!

I am in the same position as you with a liberal arts bachelors, I'm going for the ABSN! I hope after all the pre-reqs I will have a strong enough science background to keep up with the pace.

I'm in the process of getting recommendations for the ABSN (trying to apply July 1st). I'm having trouble getting a recommendation from the hospital I volunteer at, I guess its against their policy to write any recommendations on behalf of the hospital (ie on any official hospital letterhead) because of liability reasons. Has anyone else ran into this problem? Its frustrating as the SMU application strongly suggests that one of the recommendations come from a health care setting and that is all the experience I have!

For those who are in the program, I would love to know what it is like! What is your typical week like? How many days of classes, clinicals, lab, etc? Are the clinicals 8 or 12 hours? Do your register and pick your classes, or is it more of an automatic system (i'm thinking mostly about clinicals, if multiple locations/times are offered for a particular class)? All that good stuff :)

I applied for the Summer 2013 session and I am trying to get a better idea of the schedule. I can't send private messages but any response is greatly appreciated!
