Samuel Merritt University FALL 2024 BSN

Updated:   Published

HI! I just wanted to start a thread to see if anyone also applied to SMU for 2024 Fall. I haven't seen a thread on it yet

It seems like their system changed quite a few times since application started. First it was hybrid. Then the deadline was extended 3 times. And now it may not be hybrid. So the application has been ongoing for almost 6 months - therefore anything is possible?

The original application was deadlined 12/1/2023 - hybrid.

Yup it seems like not a lot of people applied hence why they extended the deadline multiple times 🤷🏽‍♀️

Do you mean like GPA, TEAS, healthcare, experience, etc.?

Yes

Also curious why they decided yo get rid of TEAS? I'm so nervous at this point I don't even know. I applied almost 6 month ago. This is so overwhelming:(

6 months ago is crazy! I applied early Jan so during the first extension. I also didn't submit a TEAS sooo I wonder how that goes.

If they extended it due to less applicants applying that is good because it'll be less competive hopefully we all get in.

I came across this, I was wondering the same...And I also applied 6 months ago:(.

"Universities that promote a holistic approach to applicant evaluation should be considered by students seeking admission. Although standardized tests are useful for determining intellectual ability, the absence of TEAS requirements broadens access, increasing the number of future nurses.”  Found this on medium.com
There are a few schools in CA that do not require it like UCSF, UC Irvine to name a few.

Hang in there guys:)

I didn't submit a TEAS score. Also for some reason I am unable to submit a response so im not sure if this will get posted

Yeah so my application also couldn't be updated since then when submitted so not sure if they take that into account or not. This feels like an entire new cycle.

Hopefully we will know by the end of this month.
