Samuel Merritt University ELMSN Spring 2022

Published

Hi fellow applicants!

I know it's quite early since the deadline is July 1, 2021, but I thought I would get this forum started! I submitted mine early and I received an automated email this morning confirming that they received my application. I checked forums for the previous cohort and it seems like they did not send out interview invites until mid-September. Hopefully, this year will be a little quicker. Good luck to you all! ?

I just submitted my application early too! Hopefully, the process isn't as long this year!

Hi friends!
I got accepted into the Oakland ELMSN fall 2021 and asked to defer my admissions until Spring since I live in Sacramento. Oakland would’ve been a hell of a drive for clinicals/labs so they allowed me to start in Spring instead!  Hopefully I get to meet you guys! Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions. I’d love to help! You can also reach out on instagram if I don’t reply on here @mobeeezy (3 e’s) ?

Hello!

I am currently working on my application for the ELMSN-CM program at Samuel Merritt. I saw from your post that you got accepted (HUGE Congratulation!) and was wondering if you had any general tips. I applied last cycle to UC Davis and USF and was waitlisted for both. I didn't apply to SMU because I didn't meet the science prerequisite GPA requirement, but I have since retaken a few classes to get that up. Is there anything particular about the case management speciality that you think is important to mention in our short answer questions? Additionally, did you have a lot or clinical experience prior to the program? Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you ?

Hello!

Glad to hear you’re interested in applying for the case management program! Honestly, I would say to make the prompts very personal to you. Everyone wants to “help people” when wanting to be a nurse/ doctor but why is this specifically something that you’re interested in? Maybe relate it to family members or your own personal health. Do some research on RN case management and tie it into your answers. I had a year-two years of clinical experience when applying. Having knowledge on what it exactly is and why it’s important will make you stand out as a candidate and show your drive. Let me know if I can help further. Good luck!

Hello  Everyone! The app deadline is just around the corner! Which location did you choose to send the TEAS results? I see that there is an option for "SMU ELMSN Sacramento", "SMU ELMSN San Fransisco", "SMU ELMSN Oakland" and "SMU ELMSN ABSN Oakland".

Hello,

I am curious if anyone has received an invitation to interview?? I would like to take the opportunity to improve my application this fall by retaking some of pre-requisite classes, ect. if I am not offered an interview; but I can’t seem to find a timeline for the application process. I have reached out to student services via email and am only given a canned, vague response when I ask if there is any general timeline.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

@Rachael G I think we should be hearing back this month. I saw someone posted an application timeline on one of the past forums and it said interview invitations would be sent in August, but who knows.

Just received an email confirming that the preliminary review of my app. is complete. Good luck everyone.

Oh no! I didn’t receive an email?! Anyone else not get one?

Hey all! these emails come throughout the week, maybe a week and a half! Its just confirmation that you are not missing anything from your application and has moved to the next phase, so no worries if you didn't all get them in one day. The biggest thing to worry if you don't get an email is regarding the NursingCAS verification (for transcripts and grades) - if you haven't received a verification email from NursingCAS, SMU can view your application but cannot move forward with it. Also, I know this helped me a lot but I literally STALKED the ELMSN Spring2021/Fall 2021/Fall 2020 forums, they were super helpful with easing some anxiety. Just keep in mind that these three cohorts were affected by the pandemic and I know they are different campuses and timelines, but you can guesstimate when you should/would be hearing back if it helps.

Hmmm still no email regarding interviews. We should be hearing from them soon ?
