Hello everyone, I applied to the FNP specialty. I hope we all hear back soon, waiting is the hardest part. I work at UCSF in clinical research and I've heard a lot of positive things about the SMU program (small classes, lots of clinical hours, etc). From what I've heard (from our medical staff) the reputation of SMU is very good locally (But I'm not sure about outside of the Bay Area). I've been told SMU grads are adequately prepared to work as soon as they graduate and they have no trouble finding jobs. Apparently, the Case Managers from the SMU program are in particularly high demand. Anyway, the online application portal had no updates... other than I've paid the application fee. Not sure if anyone else has any updates. Good luck to everyone and happy holidays!

I also applied to the FNP track for fall 2014 and have not heard anything back. But looking at the thread for last fall, people didn't start hearing back until end of jan and up until mid/end of feb for interviews.

Good luck with your applications everyone. I hope you all get in! I am in the Fall 2013 cohort, and I am starting my second semester next week. Looking back at the application process, I remember the waiting game being the most stressful part. BE SURE to take a nice vacation before you start the program.

Hello All,

I too am in the current Fall 2013 FNP cohort starting my second semester (I know who you are Kevj82 lol) and I wanted to give you all as much info as I have because I was a wreck this time last year and I know you all are too. I plan on being one of the student volunteers that comes in and answers your questions during the interview phase which will happen in February (next month). As of Thursday, the program director hadn't gotten the files yet from the admissions office (admissions does the initial screening and weeds out anyone with a gpa lower than the required 3.0) to begin inviting people for interviews, but she's expecting them any day now.

I believe I got my invitation to interview at the end of January 2013. It was literally like the last week in January when they called and my interview was in early February. Hopefully this helps give some folks peace of mind. If you have any questions feel free to ask away or PM me. Thanks for posting! I wasn't quite sure if Samuel Merritt had interviews, but from what you just posted, I see they do...good to know! Do you know if they send an actual letter inviting finalist for interviews or if it's just a phone call? Also, what should we expect in terms of the interview process and questions? Finally, when can we expect to hear back from them in terms of admissions? Sorry for all the questions, and thanks in advance for your feedback.

Any feedback on the actual program/rigor of the program at Samuel Merritt would be greatly appreciated as well!!
