Anyone out there applying for this program? Looking for some friends to share the stress of the waiting game with!
I haven't been able to find anything in the way of aid for school. I did the FAFSA, but my EFC is really high, I don't know how they calculated that! But anyways, if anyone does see a good opportunity, please let us know.
Hey Eternally- what is a high EFC? Mine was 20k, how does this affect how much we can get in financial aid?
Thanks
Hi 2bgr8nurse,
You EFC is a number that is figured when you fill out the FAFSA, It basically means that it is assumed you/your family should be able to contribute 20k (in your case) and that you may find the rest in the form of loans ( which is most likely), scholarships, grants etc. My understanding is the higher you EFC the less you get help for.
Hey Renee- I saw your post on the ABSN thread that you got accepted into that program. Are you more interested in the FNP path than the ABSN, which route would you rather go? That must be such a relief to know that no matter what you are starting in January.
2bgr8nurse,
Thats not a decision I have had to make at this point. Last I talked to Liza there has not been any movement on the waitlist since you last checked. There could always be the possibility that people dont show up to orientation, however I believe that is a small chance. Regardless, I look forward to meeting people this Thursday!

Try giving the financial aid office a call--they have a listing of a bunch of 'private' lenders. Most people take out private loans and the lenders will generally pre-approve SMU students.
