Hi Everyone, I haven't seen this thread yet and as the application date (July 1) looms closer I thought I would start one. I am interested to know who is applying, what your undergraduate degree of study was and why you are now going into nursing? I'm taking the TEAS tomorrow!!!
So I will answer my own questions; My name is Darcy, my Bachelor's degree is in gerontology. My plan is to work with the elderly, hopefully in hospice. FNP is the next logical step for me.
thanks!
so you are the new generation of aggies? I graduated from UCD as well, but a while back with BS in biology. That is great that you secure a job.To all of you still waiting, I just want to let you know that my accepted package stated that I have to respond by Oct 2nd. If any spots open up, you probably hear after that. Try to stay calm and relaxed! Stay positive!
Hi yes! I graduated with a neurobiology, physiology, and behavior degree! Yes I am a jr.specialist right now for a research lab on campus :) Love meeting aggies! If you don't mind me asking you what have youbeen up to since graduation?? :) Trying to get helpful tidbits so I can be a better applicant!

You had the same steps as me. I got my first job at UC Davis Medical Center as junior specialist too. Then I resigned and moved back to my home town. Landed a job with Department of Public Health worked there for a year. After that, I went back to research field at UCSF as a staff researcher. I volunteered during weekends at ER and seasonal volunteer for Tax Aid. Did a lot of pre-req at community college. I am sure you are a great candidate too!
What research are you doing?

I feel your pain too. I have yet to receive anything. I'm getting extremely worried too and have been constantly checking my phone and email. Honestly, I'm trying to stay positive, but I'm not going to lie, it's starting to get to the point where I just can't lol. sigh
Anyways, congrats to all who have heard back
I received an email tonight and I am on the wait list...#35/39. Ouch. I spoke to L and asked how I can improve, etc. and she said this year was one of the harder years for choosing who they were going to accept. Some people were separated by a tenth of a point..that close. If you don't get in, don't be discouraged, we just had some really tough competition. :) I think waiting was the worse part. Now that I know, I am okay with it. This year I also applied to the ABSN (back-up just in case) and am #7 so far on the wait list. So, hopefully that will pan out and I apply later on for the FNP program. Different route to get to the same destination.
Huge congrats to all those who got in. L said she is working late nights, so you should all be hearing soon. Fingers crossed

I am glad that you have a back up plan. You will be there eventually, so keep your hard work up! I am sure the ABSN program will be a great option for you too! Hope to see you at the campus this spring.

At least you got on the waitlist! That's a really great accomplishment JeninCA! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
Just a little FYI, when I originally applied to the ELMSN-FNP Oakland program and was waitlisted, I emailed Teri and Rhonda (who both interviewed me at Oakland) and asked them what I could do to improve my application. Teri was sooo sweet and emailed me back. She looked over my entire application and gave me some really good and thorough feedback. I'd definitely email them or even Eddielyn and ask for some feedback. :)
