Hello everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone applied to the Samuel Merritt (ELMSN: Case Management) program at the Sacramento campus?
I applied and received an invitation for the interview and essay on Sept. 27th. I'm nervous, but exited for the opportunity as well.
Good luck to all!
Hi!
I think my biggest advise would be to make sure you have a good HESI score ( 80 or above is advised but they seem to like above 85-90). During the application process you'll need a few letters of recommendation and to write a couple of short essays about yourself. Nothing too major :) I applied July 1 and I got an interview at the end of September, so it does take a while and I heard that I was accepted a few days later. The waiting game is draining! I was checking my email everyday!
For me, I felt like it was important to have health care experience, as that was a question they asked me about during my interview. They also asked me why I wanted to be a nurse, and specifically, why I wanted to be a case manager. After the interview, you have to write a very basic paper, they want to just know that you can make a intro, conclusion and tie all of your thoughts together. ( this is what my interviewer told me before I wrote mine)
Best of luck to you!!
Hi! I agree with LadyBugg88! I think if you have certain strong areas you will be fine as long as they are balanced. Personally I don't think my GPA (3.07) was very competitive and when I applied I had not finished the pre reqs A&P and Nutrition. I do think my statement of purpose and my recommendations were very strong so I think that balanced me out! Also I think my HESI score boosted my chances! I didn't specifically have Healthcare experience, but I volunteered and was very involved on my undergrad campus so I think that helped because I was asked about those things in my interview! Basically I think if you show them you're a well rounded student you'll do fine ! Don't worry to much about being the "perfect" applicant.
